This group is for all the musicians at ModDB. I place to show off their work and to discuss music. You could also ask for help for a song or give suggestions to one another. If you are requesting help for a mod or game, PM me and I can relay the message on the news/blog. This way people don't get mass e-mailed :). I don't know what else to say so have fun!

kind of irrelevant but for fans of utterly fast, brutal, oppressive noise, my band did some recording with a bit ago, just got some rough mixes done, heres one of our slower tracks:

Fish-byte-studios.co.uk Track 04.mp3

just copy the addy as it is there with spaces

not for fans of 'real' music ;-) got a website up at www.krupskaya.spartan-digital.co.uk. Enjoy :-D

I've been using Mixcraft, just because it's simple and looks prettier than some other programs! I was really looking for a Garageband type program for Windows, this is pretty much the same, at least cosmitically.

Personally I use Sony Acid for sequencing and a mix of real instruments + synths + Propellerheads Reason for loop / music ceation. Reason comes with a comprehensive set of tutorials available, just browse the web for them, same goes for Acid.

You should check out Ableton Live. I've been using it for about a year and a half now and it's been amazing. It's workflow is different from the usual timeline sequencing, and even when it can look confusing at first, the learning curve isn't that steep. I've found it enables the creative process far more than normal timeline sequencers.

You can grab the demo at their site www.ableton.com . It doesn't let you save your sessions, but other than that it's full featured and the bundled lessons will have you up and running in no time.

I made one of my tracks into a Live Lesson. You can grab it at my site:

Depends what you are looking to do. A lot of composers on here seem to use fruity loops studio which is a good starting product lost of MIDI goodness in it, but pretty useless for Audio. Or if you can read music then use Sibelius.

Audacity is a free multi track editor which is also a good starting point and free!!

Like I say depends what you want to do really.
