The title explains it all but this group is a fan group for the Video Games Mass Effect 1 (ME1), Mass Effect 2 (ME2), and Mass Effect 3 (ME3). This is the place to post images, videos and news about the Mass Effect Universe, comics and games.
Well it's a bit like the holocaust. It was one of the most terrible atrocities in human history, but you have to admit they must have known what they were doing seeing how they managed to off 11,000,000 people in less than a decade.
Yes, I just used the holocaust to describe Mass Effect 3's ending.
Yes, you did...
Someone finally took the next step towards making Mass Effect 3 one of the most infamous games in video-game history, and it happened here on ModDB.
I didn't cry trolololz. Seriously, though. Mass Effect 3's tone was a sad one, but also one of hope and people fighting back, or at least so it was until that depressing ending. BioWare did achieve something greater than just making us care about our companions: we started caring about the Galaxy. Shame they had to ruin it in the last 2% of the game.
Am I the only one who liked that it had a downer ending...?
Maybe I'm just sick of happy endings, but I know I would have been disappointed if(Spoiler warning, but if you're on this group, chances are you've played the games. If not, GO PLAY THE GAMES) Shepard had lived, if the Reapers were taken down *just* by cooperation of the races, or if there weren't MASSIVE casualties at the end.
Now, the ending isn't perfect, but I wouldn't call it a bad ending. I actually thought it was amazing when I played it for the first time, I didn't have any problem with it until a few days later when I began to analyze the game a bit more.
My biggest problems with the ending aren't even things most people mention....My problem is that you don't really SEE the forces you've been gathering throughout the game at the end. The Rachni, for example.
That was my major gripe at the ending.
The whole Earth sequence was boring and cheaply made; I wanted to see all the ME2 characters (providing they are still alive of course) kicking ***. I wanted to see the Merc groups I spend ages hiring taking down a Reaper all on their own. I wanted to see the characters you promoted from MP to have a part. I... I guess I wanted alot but hell, they could have made the ending far better. Something on par with the ME2 ending, giving certain squad mates different roles at different stages of the battle, allowing you to change squad mates at different points too.
Yes, I do agree that the earth segment could have been done a lot better. It seemed to quick, and not enough there, considering the whole game is building up to it.
Then again, I also felt that the ending sequence of ME2 passed too quickly, but it was so awesome I didn't care.
Of the three stages of the ending(Again, spoilers), Earth, Citadel, and Catalyst, I'd say the Earth part was the worst(Not quite *bad*, but it coulda been a LOT better), the Citadel was the best(Getting shot by the reaper up to the device not working. I LOVED that part), and the Catalyst thing was pretty good.
It was the first time i cried to a video game when I saw the ending......when you have spended over 550 hours with Shepard you care what happens to him/her. And yes it's so true that you can not see the ending without crying (for several hours......)
i cried right at the start ,had this emotional bond with shepard and the character's after soo many hours of gameplay starting in the first game. the ending in the 3rd made me raging mad followed depressed. havent touched the game since i finished it 2days after realease. it shouldn't be that way /cry
This game most certainlly did not make me cry. I have never been so angry with a game in my life. I sunk over 200 hours into ME 1 & 2 because they were awesome games but instead of going out with a proverbial bang it went out with a whimper. I now can no longer even play ME 1 & 2 because well what's the point of playing a story driven rpg if the story fell flat on its face in the last game. It's not just the ending that annoyed me either the game itself was buggy as all hell and felt rushed and frankly i do not regret trading it in. Maybe one day i'll forget about it but untill then that series is just dead to me.
Man I was already crying halfway through the game.
man...i cryed in the final...my last mission was a complete disaster...imagine just 1950 total strengh
When a game evokes such strong emotion in a heartless bastard like me you know they did something right.
In many cases the ending made people cry out of shock and anger more than sadness

Yes ! Like the suicide mission on Mass Effect 2.
I was hoping for a an end like that, with tough calls and last stands.
