The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott is a group of individuals who have pledged to boycott Valve's upcoming release of Left 4 Dead 2 on November 17th, 2009. We have assembled a manifesto outlining the basic concensus of many members of our community.

-Valve is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games.

-Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Left 4 Dead 2 until its release.

-Left 4 Dead was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community.

-To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community.

-To keeping the Left 4 Dead community together in order to improve the quality of online gaming.

-To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2.

-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.

-The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead.

-Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered.

-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 will make Left 4 Dead an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release.

-That Valve honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Left 4 Dead.

-That Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners.

-That Left 4 Dead owners be given discounts for Left 4 Dead 2, should it be released as premium content.

This group doesn't even have like 140 members (at the moment i wrote this, though i don't expect the member count to increase anyway...)

Those people at Valve made plenty of popular games and really care about the community and their thoughts (e.g. TF2) and you little trolls really think they released L4D2 just because you think they hate you or don't care about you?

Thousands of people still play Counter Strike so if you really want to make L4D live forever then why don't you just keep the community together and make other people play this game instead of hating Valve?

That's the way grown-ups would handle this IMO.

Wait wait so the people who signed up and joined this group are all of us?

Popular games and 1 well supported game don't make a company untouchable.

I have no problem that they released L4D2, but in the manner that they did. Boycotting the game does not mean that all of us boycott the company as well.

Grown ups don't call people trolls. We handled this as any consumer should. We have to believe a game is worth our money to warrant a purchase of said game. This time we didn't see it that way.

"Grown ups don't call people trolls" huh?

Well if that's the case what do you want us to call you?

Especially when members of your group use words such as: ******, *****, Bitch, ******* Jew, And lastly "Go back to sucking the developers *****"

I very much doubt about this group being sensible.

Don't judge a group by a single individual. There are far worse things said by people posting against the group then from.

How about you stop for a second and realize people have different values then yourself? How to you call us trolls when we keep our discussion in our own group, yet people like yourself go out of your way in an attempt to harass us?

Also we try and moderate for things like you listed there, and they are promptly deleted, which of course depends on context.

Why is everyone a l4d2 salesman these days, I know one thing for sure valve can pull one hell of a Houdini on gamers (excluding our little group that is).

L4D2 was $4.99 a couple days ago, and even better sales will happen, most likely.

Even at $19.99 (The price it is now) there is no longer a reason not to buy it. That is expansion pack price, and since it is nothing than an expansion pack to many of you, well it's priced like one now too.

No reason to not buy it anymore...

Seriously, no reason. It doesn't matter that they released this a year after Left 4 Dead 1. It's still a fantastic game with great polish, no shortage of players, DLC still being consistently released, and the player base as a whole is flourishing.

I could understand if it was buggy as hell or something, but it isn't... it's a bug-free game where everything is new. New infected, new survivors, all new maps, new weapons, melee weapons, new survivors, new music, new sound effects.... it's an entirely new game.

The only difference between CoD 4 and CoD MW2 are those same things... yet nobody considers MW2 just an expansion.

It really doesn't matter what a game costs, it's about the principle, and as rocket said, most just don't want it or care anymore. You don't just boycott a game because it's out of your budget.

You could try to give it to me for free and I wouldn't play it. I was disappointed in the first and I dare not live through the same disappointment again.

MANY considered MW2 to be just an expansion. I for one stopped buying CoD games long ago, in place of some real shooters that don't feel like arcade games.

Rawket Dec 20 2010 replied:

Maybe we just don't want to buy the game. That ever crossed your mind? Are you guys going to have us killed because we don't feel it's worth the money?

Expansion price is free by the way, because they specifically said when they made L4D1 that they would be releasing new content daily for L4D and now they pull L4D2 out of their *** and thus boycott formed.
