The Sith is throwing his lightsaber to cut down one of the rocks to crush the jedi and jumping out of the way after having stolen a datapad containing important data. That is why the jedi is extending his hand, in an attempt to stop the Sith.
P.S. Yes I did make that up but I`m trying to give credit to the Sith :P
