I think he forgot the parts that regulate the blades length/power as well as the on switch (powerful Jedi might have that within the lightsaber, but I doubt luke is that good yet) also I think he doesn't have enough crystals there. Unless the peices are there but I can't see them.
Correct. He has a focusing crystal there but no power crystal... honestly how did this fool become a jedi? And the belt ring is a misc object not nessasarlly needed to make it work. As for the blade regulator i belive it is that box near the bottom (Where the belt ring would be) with the two arrows pointing in opposite directions.
in his defense he was a padawan when he was building it and barely had any training in the force.
