So, this group never really got the attention it deserved from me. Well, with a name change and a pretty large scale return to the Mod scene I have decided to undertake regular updates. Perhaps only once a month but I will posting whatever gaming news relates to Ireland once a month, this may only be one or two points of course as it is fairly minimalist about the Country at the moment for us developers and gamers but that will change soon enough, hopefully!
Anyhow, for now I just want to bring to your attention the Global Game Jam.
Essentially it is a worldwide game development "jam". What this means is that there is a 2 hour deadline for a large group of people to pump out a game, with the announcement of the title only 30 minutes before the timer starts!
This creates a pretty unique experience and lets everyone in on the action, let's have an Irish presence!
It is on the 28th of this month and is an annual event with quite a bit of media and interest surrounding it so for anyone looking to get into the industry this can prove to be a quick jump up the ladder if you find success in it!Anyhow here is a link to their site: Globalgamejam.org
Check it out and drop a comment on this article to tell everyone what you think, also leave a shout if you have any ideas for the group and how we should develop from here on out. It's a New Year [and the last one before the world ends ahhhh] so let's... eh.. I can't think of a good term.. get it on? Nope. That doesn't sound right, ahhh you know what I mean.
