I very much doubt there's a sinister agenda behind things at all. Last time the web servers were bouncing around like hyperactive jellies. This is all to try smooth out the first few hours of craziness (IMO). I'd guess they're only moving things by a maximum of 24 hours just to keep people from bombarding the servers all at once.

As for "if you already have the games": if you already own them then gift them to someone for christmas. It's not like $4 is going to break the bank (and if it is then maybe you shouldn't be wasting your money on video games).
If it's a major concern then just wait until the games have been announced before buying. You risk ending up with a higher price, but if you're lucky then some kind souls will have driven the price down and you'll get the best of both worlds. There's no real change to the purchasing other than some people will have pre-ordered and you're not 100% sure of when the bundle will be made available. They said they'll still be sending out a warning email so you won't be caught completely by surprise.

Personally I just pre-ordered. I'll probably enjoy whatever has been put out there and I got some astounding games last 2 times around. I have faith they'll continue to impress me.

EDIT: this is a reply to ZPavelZ's comment that starts with "Might I also notice the timing does not exactly help? ..."
Somehow *reply to* is not replying to :(

There is - a 1 USD increase from minimum for everyone - a 2 USD increase, if you pre-order. Just to point out.
>This is most likely to prevent people complaining that the people who pre-ordered got it at the minimum price...
Of course it is, that is why I wrote "I can understand why the pre-order price is higher". If it wasn't - most of the customers would just pre-order, right? I just wanted to point out that this gives sort of a "double" benefit - pre-orders generate more "value-per-purchase" and increase the turnover.

>And perhaps the preorders will feed into the usual pricing, driving it down for much of the start?
I'm quite sure they said the sale would start from 3 USD and go along the "normal" pricing model.

>This is all to try smooth out t... I'd guess they're only moving things by a maximum of 24 hours...
Yes, of course. However, they have stated several times the bundle is moved onto the next week (maybe to give more time for pre-ordering).

>As for "if you already have the games"... It's not like $4 is going to break the bank (and if it is then maybe you shouldn't be wasting your money on video games).
I do not remember bringing up that argument. I have decided to write here, because... I like bundles and I am interested in analyzing the strategy behind them. If I see something clever I say "that's GOOD", if I think something isn't that great I say "probably not a good idea" (if you are looking for some praising of mine you'll find it in my blog as well as in this thread in earlier posts). In any case, I am sure I'll survive without any indie games/bundles whatsoever. :)
>Personally I just pre-ordered... I have faith they'll continue to impress me.
2nd bundle was somewhat less impressive for me, frankly speaking. Anyway I personally will not make any decisions until I know all of the pre-order conditions (e.g. whether refunds would still be possible).
Thanks for your replies.

Wasn't trying to be contrary or anything. I didn't notice the $1 min increase (mostly because I'm paying £s) but I still think it's a really good deal.
Last I read about the timing they said "after thanksgiving" which could mean Friday or next week. Although tbh I haven't been following that closely.
Hopefully this bundle will have some good games. I've thrown my hat in the ring already, but waiting to see what the deal will be makes perfect sense too.
I agree that there are some teething problems going on but hopefully they'll take everyone's feedback (positive and negative) and it'll make the whole process stronger :)
As you say: it's an interesting process nonetheless.

Well that is just normal - since I am quite sure in the UK the games are not that cheap and UK pound still has a high exchange rate against US Dollar. But just for your information - you are paying around twice the previous minimum price (1.99 USD) for the pre-order (3.99 USD).
>Last I read about the timing they said "after thanksgiving" which could mean Friday or next week.
In fact, if you look at their twitter Twitter.com around 10 most recent posts are devoted to explaining how the next bundle is still not there. Seems like many people did not realize this change and pre-ordered thinking they would get their games today.
>Hopefully this bundle will have some good games. I've thrown my hat in the ring already, but waiting to see what the deal will be makes perfect sense too.
I am quite sure (basing on the hint in the "open letter") one of the games would be "The really big sky". Totalbiscuit made a nice wtf about it Youtube.com but I am not so interested in it right now. Besides, I already bought the Introversion bundle (along with Aquaria, which I still did not have). So I think for now I am probably going to just wait and buy it only if I would really want the games very much.
>I agree that there are some teething problems going on but hopefully they'll take everyone's feedback >(positive and negative) and it'll make the whole process stronger :)
I also sincerely hope for that. In fact, they did alter the system of "available on" denominations for the 2nd difficult bundle. I remember there were quite some requests for that. All in all, once again I think it is a good initiative and hopefully everything works out well step by step. At least, I am still interested just as you are. :)

Concerning your recent "open letter" (for those of you, who have not read it, please, ensure that you do it here: Indieroyale.com) and the changes it brings. It sounds really like a big barrel of tar with a small spoon of honey in it.
Wrapped around in a nice package the message basically says the following "the minimum price from now on will increase by 1 USD" and "the schedule for the releases is modified so that no one will know when the next sale will start".
Yes, it is a good thing that you would implement pre-orders, even a slight price increase is understandable. You do not wait for the sale to start, hence you pay more, even though "normally" when you pre-order something in advance the price is smaller as the company gets your money in advance and can invest and get revenue from them faster thus increasing its turnover. But what has that got to do with the increase of the minimum price? I guess the right answer is "nothing". I do not know your overhead costs, in fact very little about financial results of the Indie Royale bundles is known at all, so it is hard to estimate/justify this action from the outside.
However, in general these news sound like "eroding the concept" to me and it happens much faster than the slight erosion one might spot in Humble Indie Bundle (those who are interested on what is happening with HB can have a look at the blog in my profile - the recent post about Humble Voxatron Debut). Indeed, HB have been introducing "more money per purchase" very gradually over the 1.5 years of work, while still leaving a "window\" for those who want to do it the old "pay what you want with no minimum amount" way. Here we just see a general boost of prices for everyone (as far as I remember, your system does not support price-dropping below minimum, so, yeah, no one would be allowed to pay below 3 USD now).

There's not much of a change to the pricing. The only difference is that pre-orders are $1 higher than the starting price.
This is most likely to prevent people complaining that the people who pre-ordered got it at the minimum price while the people going through the conventional method couldn't get in fast enough to get the minum price.
Most people who pre-order are going to be the sort of people who pay a little extra to support indie dev. They're already buying the games "blind" as it were. And perhaps the preorders will feed into the usual pricing, driving it down for much of the start? The only way we'll know is by seeing the results in the next sale.
I'd say give them the benefit of the doubt and see how things pan out.

Might I also notice the timing does not exactly help? Just a bit more than 48 hours before the next bundle launch you have announced that "it is postponed until we will not tell you when". I am quite sure many people have been waiting for the exact date and time just like me. A totally different case would be, if you would change the scheduling system for all bundles right after the start of a new one. But this.... again sounds very bitter to me. By the way, would I be allowed to mention that HB site actually holds significant customer loads (remember how they scooped 500000 USD in one day - that should have been 100000 purchases in 24 hours at the very least)?
I was sincerely hoping that Indie Royale would become a very good competitor for HB (someone already called it Steam of indie games here :) ), but this is a very big injection of scepticism into my expectations.

@indieroyale Indie Royale
@chuckie001 there isn't much we can do to avoid that - you can always wait till the bundle launches :)

Does this ALSO imply that pre-orders will get no refunds? (Your "open letter" says nothing about it).

I totally agree - Irukandji turned out to be really interesting to play and very much appealing visually. I have a question about it, though. Is there only one level in the game or do I have to "unlock" the new levels by completing level 1 (the one with the giant crab) with all ships available?
