Anyone else REALLY excited for the alpha bundle:D
Looking forward to it, will be glad if it has some Linux games but will most likely be purchasing anyway :) Hopefully the New Year bundle should be out soon ... :)
So... the hints concerning the games from Christmas bundle are out. Any ideas? I have got almost none for the FPS - could it be Killing Floor? And I do not think "a cult puzzle action" could be Puzzle Quest 2, could it? It's not indie after all, if I remember correctly.
An exclusive, specially remastered adventure game compilation debut (Steam for PC, Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download), an unlikely-themed multiplayer FPS (Steam for PC), a cult puzzle action game (Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC, and DRM-free PC download), and an overlooked sim-action title (Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download).
This got me thinking too. My guess at the FPS is The Ball, but I'm out of ideas for the rest.
Do you think "The Ball" could also fit into the "puzzle action" category? It's got puzzles, and there is some real-time action going on. :)
"Puzzle action" is such a vague term ("sim" also - flight simulator? space flight simluator? racing simulator? economic simulation/tycoon? hunting simulator? anything simulator - which could be pretty much any game in existence?), that it's really hard to determine what the author wanted to say ;-P. I wish they used more specific genre names.
The Desura/Steam availability is a really good hint though.
The Ball IMHO is more FPS than anything else from the above choices, the screenshots on steam don't give a good idea about this game but look elsewhere for real gameplay shots.
From the video TotalBiscuit made it seemed rather more a puzzle platformer to me than a FPS. In any case I do agree the hints are really vague (I guess this is the way it should be, anyway) and it seems we only got several hours to wait before discovering the answer (according to @indieroyale twitter).
Dino D-Day (from what i've seen - meh), Blackwell trilogy, The Oil Blue (no idea about these two) and Eets (a fantastic game).
Blackwell - could be nice, Eets - I didn't like the demo years ago, maybe worth another try, The Oil Blue - could be fun, Dino D-Day - depends on how many of my friends get this game.
All in all knowing beforehand what games were going to be in this bundle I probably wouldn't get it, and I'll skip the preorder for the next one and see what games are on there first.
I would say this is a wise decision as it has been quite easy to get the bundle for under 4 USD in the first hours after the start and the price in general seems to float around 4USD as well. The pre-order bonuses seem to be the only difference between pre-ordering and buying at launch so far.
I take that back - The Ball is rather unlikely, cause it's not multiplayer.
