this is a group, (like the tank and aircraft lovers) is dedicated to the IFV (infantry fighting vehicle) like the BMP-2 the M2A2 bradly and so on and so forth, from made up to real life, and anything in between. from treads to wheels to hover, this is for all you people who enjoy those rumbling rolling armored vehicles, that when on the target drop their ramps to emit a large group of infantry. I would like to know, what is the difference between IFV's and APC's?

PathfinderGI May 2 2010, 1:05pm replied:

APC are designed to transport infantry and provide light covering fire mostly in the form of a Machine Gun.

While IFV are designed to directly fight, support infantry, and some can take out enemy armored vehicles if needed.

A basic way to think of this is IFV are more heavily armed than APCs.

A regular M113 APC has a 50cal MG
While a M2 Bradly is armed with TOW missiles, a 25mm cannon, and a MG.
A regular BTR 60 is armed with a MG
and a BMP2 is armed with a 30mm cannon, AT missiles, and a MG.

Although there are exceptions to the case.
