I feel like the first few hours (it varies from game to game) is nothing but warming up. After that, I'm already above most people from pubs.
I remember when I first played TF2 (less than 2 years ago, when I finally got my Gaming PC), after 3 days playing the game (a total of not even 5 hours) I was already among the top of the scoreboard.
