Oh well this version seems much less disturbing (asides from decapitating fingers) so I chose this version over the one that I had made up based on how linked the middle finger is to the word **** and given that words meaning it's no wonder I thought that.
There is also a rumour that the two-finger-to-brow salute was in fact British bowman showing their superiors the existence of the deadly middle finger that the French knights feared so much.
fairly certain its actually giving someone the "V" that originated from the hundred years war, seeing as it's used in England much more than the middle finger is. Also common sense says they'd cut off both your index AND middle finger, so there was no chance you could even try to draw a bow.
