Amazing the IJN's Yamato and Musashi were their two super battleships but barely made a impact anywhere in the war. I blame tactical incompetence for that, not the ships.
Carrier based navy craft indeed proved that the era of the dreadnought was over. Sad as it is to watch a old brawling gal like that go to the bottom. I feel like a old man talking like that but I can only imagine being "outdated" and then scraped. At least she went down guns blazing instead of enduring the humiliation of a mothball fleet. Come to think of it... retract my statement of sadness. It's actually quite glorious to be granted the honor of battle as the final discharge from service.
It took over 152 aircraft to take that behemoth down. It one shotted a carrier when it was actually given the chance to fight the US navy. It was not useless, just not properly utilize.
yes i partly agree with rkraptor70 same things like i said people say about Iraqi T-72 Assad Babil say it was a useless moving pillbox but truth is 90% of iraqi armor was destroyed by USAF not by army.
so yes people will say Iraqi T-72 useless if in war it was 1 vs 10 US tanks.
Didn't work out too well when the Murican' prank back with the power of the sun... twice.
Nor with the Jerries pranking London from the sky.
Then the Tommies pranking them back at Dresden.
Some pranks just go too far bro...
And the pranks were as worse as involve unaware people, like they laugh out of it even if they didn't see it.
yamato was a old ship they didnt upgraded it as time passed even Imperial navy made a joke about it.
What is the most useless thing in the whole Empire?
yamato.
