That's pretty much what I thought of after watching the movie.

It is Disney so, they lack creativity all the while continuing to beat a horse to death.

Fix this meme and put Star Wars: Dark Forces in Reach's place, then its more accurate.

Battle of Toprawa: Starwars.wikia.com

Read up on your Legends canon. :p

If you actually read your legends canon you would know that Star wars: Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire explains there were 2 sets of death star plans. The ones on Toprawa did not contain the full technical readouts, the ones kyle katarn retrieved on Danuta where more helpful to the alliance.

:P

Ps. Guy, I have a Youtube Star Wars lore channel, I constantly read up on legends material every day. Are you sure you want to play this game?

We're talking about the similarities of Rogue One to another story. It is similar to Toprawa, not Dark Forces.

You know, the joke above? But we're all joking anyway, right?

Rogue one's characters likenesses and behaviors are almost copy and past from Dark Forces and the Jedi Knight Games.

Jyn Erso= Jan Ors
Captain Andor = Kyle Katarn (in looks anyway)
Director Krennik = Rhom Mohc
Death Troopers = Dark Troopers

That's literally all I was saying until you started ****

It's good to know other people noticed. I reflected about this in a YouTube comment a few months ago.

Mengu wrote: I kinda found the endings of Rogue One and Reach oddly similar in a way. In both, the team dies in a fairly quick succession with the protagonist being the last one left, the protagonist has to take data (whether plans or an AI) to a place where it can be extracted (antenna or landing platform), has no way of getting off the planet, the planet itself gets reckt by energy beams (superlaser or ventral plasma projectors) and the ship that receives the data escapes the planet by jumping to FTL (hyperspace or slipspace) pursued by the much superior enemy (Empire or Covenant). Even the beginning of A new hope and Combat evolved are very similar, with both ships (Tantive IV and Pillar of Autumn) being ambushed as soon as they come out of FTL, disabled by enemy cruiser fire (turbolasers or plasma torpedoes), boarded by infantry with the following skirmish inside the both ship's corridors and the highest authority on both ships (Leia or Keyes) sending the data off to the nearest planet in a desperate attempt to avoid it falling into enemy hands. Leia and Keyes also both get captured by the enemy and later rescued from the main enemy ship by the protagonist.

Honestly I don't think it's that similar.
In Reach, Noble 6 and the sniper guy both survive, in Rogue One the whole team dies. In Reach, they mount a defense of their own planet, in Rogue One they infiltrate an enemy base. In Reach they die in separate missions/battles, in Rogue One they all die in the same battle.

The only real similarity is that multiple main characters die, which is not really an invention of Reach.

And I dearly hope you're not trying to tell me that A New Hope copied Combat Evolved.

Noble 6 doesn't survive. But that's besides the point, all the similarities I pointed out still hold true, despite the slight differences you mentioned. Because that's where the difference between "oddly similar" and "exact copy" is. The endings of Rogue One and Reach are indeed similar, albeit not exactly the same because they simply can't be.

And I dearly hope you're not trying to imply that I said A new hope copied Combat evolved.
