Spock has an announcement to make:
A metal is an element, compound, or alloy that is a good conductor of both electricity and heat. Diamond are either semi-conductors or insulators, not conductors. Thus, diamond is not a metal, it's a crystal(allotrope of carbon would be the exact term). Point made.
Also: Diamond is just really really old smushed up coal mixed with lava and other natural elements...
