Venture into the Broken Lands...

Build an Empire in a World Torn Asunder

It is a time for new Empires to rise! Will yours be amongst them? The Order has fallen, their cites are ruins, their magics spent. In a land of war and magic, diplomacy and mystery, can you build an Empire to rival that of the ancients?

Illyriad Games announced today that their latest game update and expansion, The Broken Lands, has launched! The long-awaited game update has added several things to the game, including:

Land expansion - A new, dangerous continent -- The Broken Lands -- has been added to the southern half of the world map. Players can make their way there in several ways. The distance across the ocean makes trans-continental trade more difficult, and this will increase the value of certain materials that might be more common in either landmass. Because it is early, the southern land is not nearly as populated, but over the course of weeks or months its population will rise.

New Faction Hubs - Hubs are locations that players will trade through; think of them as shopping malls. A player can safely store goods in a hub and can assign a trader to sell goods through that faction.

Tons of new resources - The Broken Lands map is seeded with many new resources. These resources can be gathered by a player and used in different ways.

New NPCs - NPCs in Illyriad can be several different types and can utilize several different types of behaviors from reproduction to hunter/prey relationships. These NPCs can attack player cities and can move across the map. Illyriad truly is a living world!

30 + new terrain types - We've added a bunch of new terrain types, especially along the more prominent coastlines of The Broken Lands. Lighthouses, fisherman's huts, dormant portals... all of these new tiles add something unique to The Broken Lands experience.
