For those that are new to our mod welcome, no doubt for those that are viewing this thread because they cant get it to work correctly, it crashes during the map loading screen. Well for the most part it is fairly simple to get the mod to work correctly unless it is your own Operating system like Win 7 that is the cause of your issues then I dont have any experience with that OP system. Anyways like i was pointing out the reason why the mod crashes for the most part is due to the part of the player, if you played a hw 2 game before playing the mod your race box will be blank and so will the AI if you are playing against them. Most people misunderstand when i tell them to fill in their race box, they just assume i mean the more options button to the upper right but what i am telling them is what i meant, click on the drop down arrow for the races that you would have chosen for stock homeworld 2, where Higgy and Vagry would be in stock, click that drop down arrow and it will give you an option called choose from above, select and do the same for the AI you are using if any. Next you need to select the team you want to play as, now this is where the more options button comes in, so click that button and choose what settings you want then go down the list to the races. Now each race will be assigned based on positions on the map itself. So if you are using position 1 it will give you the player 1 race that is assigned to player 1 in the more options tab, in other words Player 1 = position 1, player 2 = position 2 etc. Anyways if that doesnt help you out maybe this xfire video can clear things up by showing you how to set it up.

My suggestion to you is:
SPLIT the explanation above under two or three screenshots of the skirmish menu, than it will be clearer and faster. Like in a visual step-by-step explanation ...
A shorter explaination:
Many have reported the game crashes when loading a map. Usually it has been user error. When creating a game, you must select "Choose Above" in the race selection options (which normally say Hiigaran/Vaygr). You must then select what race each player will be in the upper right. Player 1 = whoever is in position 1. Player 2 = whoever is in position 2. Player 3 -- you get the idea.
There are more options available than there is room to display, click the "More Options" button repeatedly to cycle through them.

I'd also like to point out crash when loading the map often occurs because players haven't updated Homeworld 2 to version 1.1

Korean, Spanish, German, Italian, and French patches also exist (for use with the respective language version of the game). Search "Homeworld 2 v1.1 [language] Patch last official patch" to find them.
Mine crashes during loading but not because of the map problem.
My Hw2.log ends with an error saying it cant load the research file for the selected race.
It goes looking for data\scripts\build and research\race\research.lua
but there is no folder called scripts in my data folder?
Correction, instead of the racename in the path is allways looking for the hiigaran\research.lua even though the AI is set to Vaygr or something else
make sure you fill in your blank race box you will see what it looks like up top, do the same for the AI.
i did so, i even tried turning on all AI's...

turns out the research file got messed up dont know how but it did so i took down the version that is out. SIGH i hate this damn comp.
this will take me a few days, got 3000 lines of text to correct in the research file, for some reason the needed seperation makes got removed and im talking about these guys

no you guys helped catch onto this other wise the mod was dead.
half way done fixing the issues that caused this and i say DAMN YOU NOTE PAD! Notepad was probably the reason why this happened.
Okay i managed to get the research file to work but so far i only got the higgy enabled. Its gonna take me a while to get the rest working as well.
My game doesnt have the More Options button on the top..and i have downloaded the most recent version O_O I cant put the races or anything PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Now my game crashes in the middle of the loading screen aswell :/
your race box is blank aka EMPTY you need to fill it in like you would select your races from Stock hw 2, click the race drop down arrow to get your option and click it.
I cant load a game up, I have selected 'choose from above' but when the map is loading it freezes on 'universe' then the game closes to windows.. any help please?
I have patch v1.1 and have no problems with other mods.
