The first demo of Opposing Force 2 is called "The Stadium Demo", and it carries the name for a reason. On this demo we focused solely on NPCs and weapons, and for this, we have made a stadium map similar to Sven-Coop's. On this map, you'll be able to spawn a bunch of HL2 and OF2 NPCs, spawn barricades, spawn props and press a button that casts the incredible Michael Bay mode, which triggers a lot of explosions throughout the stadium. All that by simplying pressing buttons all around. We'll also include of2_forest_contact, one of the Deadlock Conflict maps, which is being designed by one of our mappers, Hazard24, as a bonus. And finally, the Crossfire map for all your unecessary needs of exploding nukes and spamming NPCs.
While a big part of work shown in the demo is still WIP, it is an overall enjoyable experience, which will allow the player to feel how the mod will play like. Including a list of 6 custom NPCs and an arsenal of custom weapons, we made sure to give the player enough to keep him busy for hours, maybe a day or two. But it is good enough for a first release.

Before you download, remember. A lot shown in this demo is work in progress. Do not post the obvious on the forums. For those who are into the Source engine: a few models miss attachments, some have hitboxes that are a bit off, an item_suit is needed for toggling on nightvision, and the HUD is broken on the ClientScheme file (which is weird, because it works well on the actual OF2 build). We are working on these problems that popped when porting to the demo, but we're just releasing this because we want our community to know that this isn't bullshit. And we are actually putting content out. A big arsenal of weapons, and atleast 6 custom NPCs are included in this demo.
I've noticed a few bugs (apart from the wip stuff), but the demo's pretty good. Hopefully the next one will have more final stuff, but thanks for releasing this to the community. Keep up the good work.
I really enjoyed this demo, even for a WIP, it was still a lot of fun, I loved playing around with the vortex gun in the stadium with all the NPCs spawned, but what I enjoyed the most was the Deadlock Conflict map, the environment of it was simply amazing, just the displacements could use some smoothing, but hey, it's a WIP. As for the people complaining, it just goes to show that everyone is pretty much a whiney bitch when it comes to not getting something their way with free content. Nevertheless, this demo was simply perfect, I give it a 8/10.

Menter, dont mind me criticising but...
1)You need a proper weapon animator.
M16 reload is..well..horrid.Same about M40.Comparing that to charger animations for example, its really bad(in terms of quality.Charger anims=fluid,m16-robotic/not really fluid at all).
2)You need a better weapon textures artist(and possibly for other stuff)
Certain weapons look nice, but certain of them have horrific VMT editing,refmapping where its not useful,phong, and overall low quality textures(Does not look as good as render would show it to be now,eh?)
Other then that, keep on kickin'.Looks better then what it used to be definitely.
I understand where you're coming from, but this is exactly why I mentioned in the news update that there's a lot of WIP content. Those anims aren't final. Nor are many textures and some models are to be changed completely or totally remade (vortex gun for example).

Out of everything so far, only one thing REALLY bugs me, and thats the "flash" that occurs after you get hit. Its like having a flash bang sans the bang go off in your eyes. FOR EVERY HIT. Excuse me, I'm gonna go lay down, that gave me a headache. >.<;
That's default for Episode Two. But well noticed, we'll remove it.
Oh yeah, one other thing, due to the kickback of some of the guns I found the SPAS more effective in long ran... wait, make that any range. It makes them ridiculously inaccurate and useless. Heck, to even be of any use, I need to get up close enough to be face to face, which means I use the SPAS anyway.
All in all, its not that bad, its just that some of the assault weapons are pretty much useless as is. (why does everyone think its a good idea to change the AR2's kickback? Its fine as is. Plus I don't wind up staring up at the sky after firing several shots.)
The AR1's bullets are twice as strong as the AR2's, that's why the recoil is also really strong. It's a great gun for killing tough enemies like the charger, bullsquid, etc.
Despite some people complaining about some small things on here, I must say it is good to get some feedback! Getting rid of annoying things will help the final release greatly.
Do I need EP2 for this to work properly? Because I just get a lot of pink textures and error messages on all the levels except stadium.
And, obviously, I was stupid enough to try this; When you use the vortex gun on a Gunship....yeah you might want to just try it for yourself.

Te only things that come up on the menu after the starting the demo are Video Stress test,Options and Quit. What's going on? Have I done something wrong or is it a common problem?
You've done something wrong. Re-install it.

Weird... I have a lot of corrupted files (12 errors) when I'm extracting this mod, I can only play the stadium map.
I downloaded and extracted the mod 3 times already but it won't help, switched to a other extraction program but didn't help either.
Maybe it's just my pc then? Never had something like this before.
Get something better than WinRAR. If you used another application I don't know what's wrong.

The demo was neat. I had a whole lot of criticism written up but I had to remind myself this is still a WIP and I think you guys know what you're doing. The two things that need the most improvement are the bullsquid's model and the charger's run speed. The bullsquid's model looked really bad I couldn't look at it. And the charger's charge was pathetic. Make him at least charge as fast as the player.
That's my two cents I'm certain you'll fix everything else in the future.
Looks great, i realy like the first map amazing, second is also great, but i have problem with NVG if u don't have HEV on me, I can turn it on but u can't turn it off (NVG) and i find that NVG don't helping me in dark areas it's just i can't see **** with it. Still looking foward to full release ;]
Again, you need an item_suit for the nightvision to work properly and light areas up. Why did you even try to use it without a suit? Go back to the demo and get impulse 101 on.

No, you reinstalled unproperly. Use 7-Zip, not WinRAR.
in the crossfire map if you jump while moving into the openings at the top of the tower you will clip through them.
so where do i install it to ? cause i put it both in HL2 folder as outside and it ain't showing up in my steam library
It doesn't go in your HL2 folder, it goes in Steam/steamapps/Sourcemods then restart steam, and launch from your games list.
