However, Half-Life 1 is one of the greatest games, and nobody should make a mess with it by adding Source engine.

Black mesa is going to make it even better. These days the original graphics for HL 1 are very crap and theres so much opportunity to make it better with the source engine.
Whereas recreating certain places with Source can be VERY difficult to do, for instance did i hear from Black mesa Source Devs, that they have major problems with Xen
