Crossfire Version 2.0

We'd like to use the opportunity to give a small update on the Crossfire 2.0 development.
With this version the 10th chapter of the Crossfire storyline will be introduced and course of the war depends on your skills.

Next to these storyline additions we of course are working on the graphics again, maximizing the game experience with new rendering technics, textures and shaders. Another priority is to develop a much more lively and interesting game environment. Many areas of the mod are being re-designed to achieve a truly immersive universe.
We want this mod to be worth exploring and re-exploring over and over again.

Last but not least there will be a focus on the Multiplayer gameplay, which we intent to improve with many new features for clans and general roleplay.

Upcoming changes

Gameplay

With Crossfire 2.0 we intend to do major changes on the Crossfire Universe which will have major impact on the gameplay.
All in all Crossfire will be more lively, more diverse and worth getting explored once more.
Filled with additional side quests and new interesting places, more than 90% of the systems will get updated.
Especially the Altair and Inner Core Sector will become more important for the entire game.
While we already introduced most of the gameplay changes with Crossfire 1.9 we still have several additional features which we have not activated yet.
One of these features is a new reputation system which makes the players decision even more important throughout the game.

Multiplayer

For the Multiplayer we have something special in mind.
Next to major improvements of our server side roleplay system we will focus on supporting the Crossfire clans which are the backbone of the server environment.
This is getting done by introducing by a new set of features just for the clans.
With the new Clan management system the Clan leaders get the option to let Freelancers join their clan, without that these new members have to create new characters (and loose his/her progress on the old chars).
Next to that will Clans be allowed to build own stations if they are able to afford them.
These stations are opener for the next feature, the conquest system.
Once a Clan has build a station this clan will be allowed to conquer other systems by proving economic and military power.
A Clan with additional territories will gain rewards, if they can hold these systems and support them.
The conquest system is an automatic, intuitive and self balancing multiplayer feature. It does not need any complicated rules or manual interventions.

Story

With Crossfire 2.0 we will introduce the 10th and final chapter of the Crossfire storyline.
Will there be a final battle?
What do the Dom'Kavash have in mind with the mysterious device in your cargo hold?
Can the Dom'Kavash be trusted?
Will the houses of Sirius fight united?
What role does the Coaltion play and why have they build an own hypergate?
Many questions that I am clearly not going to answer here.
In more than 10 new missions you get the chance to find out yourself discover one of the alternative endings.
Furthermore you can expect various improvements on the other Crossfire story missions and probably even optional side missions (a decision about that is yet to be made).

Graphics

Graphic changes also play a bit role in the new Crossfire mod.
We came to the conclusion that many of the graphics can be improved even more without causing negative effects on the game performance.
With Crossfire 2.0 we will go much more into detail and take care of the remaining glitches to make the game experience perfect.
Additionally you can choose from various new post processing mechanics such as FXAA, MSAA, HDR and adjustable color corrections.

It does look interesting, and I hope he finds a better way to deal with sov mechanics than structure grinding. I am an active EVE player and trust me, it is not fun having to shoot structures to take sov.

Once again Crossfire leads the way in pushing FL to the limit and beyond, but it does bother me you're calling your mod 'Freelancer 2'. It isn't Freelancer 2, that game doesn't exist. This is your particular vision of a Freelancer 2.

Great mod, but it's still a mod.

Hey guys, this mod looks brilliant, I was just wondering if you are going to have a summer release for 2.0 as I'd love to play this over the summer.

I really wanted to like the single player campaign. Unfortunately, it's terrible. I tried to do one mission where I kill 2 junkers and the kill 3. After 45 minutes I had to ALT F4. Who in the actual **** decided that giving the enemy tons of Nanytes and shield batteries would be compelling game play? My god damn arm hurts from trying to beat 1 mission. I couldn't even imagine finishing the story. The graphics look great which is good because you'll be looking at them for hours. And hours. And hours. And that's just the first mission. I guess if you're a 12 year old kid who comes home from school and has nothing better to do than play this ridiculously repetitive mod, I'd say go for it. If you actually have anything in your life that isn't Freelancer, I wouldn't bother.
