Yu Xu, Known to many as the "Golden peacock" was among China’s first female pilot cleared to pilot the J-10 fighter.
She died in a flying accident on last Saturday during an air training exercise when her double-seater J-10 crashed in Hebei province. Her co-pilot ejected but she was unable to do so in time.
