Deus Ex is a series of first person video games, consisting of three games: Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible War, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

While all three games have distinct settings and story lines, together they explore the methods used by the world's elite to control and manipulate society. Human Augmentation also factors heavily in the stories, being introduced in Human Revolution and explaining the main characters super human abilities through all three games.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
(Deus Ex 3) 2027 A.D.
This game takes place when the development of bio-mechanical augmentation by a few elite and powerful companies threatens to destabilize society. The main story follows Adam Jensen, a private security officer for one of these companies, as he attempts to figure out who is behind recent attacks on his company. The events in the game lead to the formation of UNATCO, a global anti-terrorist organization formed by the United Nations.

Deus Ex / Deus Ex: The Conspiracy
(Deus Ex 1) 2052 A.D.
This game takes place after a rogue organization Majestic 12(MJ-12) attempts to take over the world by secretly releasing a virus only they have a cure for. The game is played through the eyes of rookie UNATCO agent J.C. Denton, who through the course of the game discovers the true identity of MJ-12 as a rogue offshoot of the once powerful Illuminati. The story ends with a final confrontation with Bob Page, leader of MJ-12, and a moral decision for J.C. Denton to seize power for himself, restore power to the Illuminati or destroy the work of MJ-12 entirely and possibly create a new global dark age.

Deus Ex: Invisible War
(Deus Ex 2) 2072 A.D.
This game takes place after an event known as The Collapse, where several global organizations offer competing ideologies for how society should function. The story follows recent trainee Alex Denton, clone of J.C. Denton, as he completes missions for these organizations, learns their true identities and intentions and in the end decides which organization should rule the world.

Put on a trenchcoat
And fight some conspiracies
Get experience
And level up abilities
Will you pick Rifles
Or Computers
Don't pick Swimming because
It's fairly useless
It's a shooter
And a roleplaying game
The levels are ugly
And everyone looks the same
We're not the same Ion Storm
That made Daikatana
Our games are good and they
Stay on schedule

Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Human Revolution are two of the best video games I have ever played. Unfortunately, I haven't played Deus Ex: Invisible War, yet; however, I plan on playing it when I have more time. :)
I can't wait to play Mankind Divided! :D

I hope ya'll don't mind a little story time about parenting with Deus Ex...

Sooo - When Deus Ex (Conspiracy) was released, I was about 20 and pregnant with my first child. I discovered and played this game that would inevitably become my most favorite game of all time. Fast forward to today. That child is now 14 - and I built him his first gaming rig for Christmas last year.

Then the question....

"Mom, what's with that Revision mod you've been waiting for? What game is that about...?"

"OHHH **** my child - let me show you Deus Ex".

So as I've done dozens of times in the last decade, I whip out Deus Ex and get ready to install it. He's checking out the case, see's the graphics, and I hear him groan....

"Ugh, mom, its old school. The graphics are crappy. It's gonna drag...should I just wait and play the mod with you?"

I was gonna say yes...but then I stopped.

"Hell no" I said. "The team that's been working on that mod have put in countless hours and resources over several years working to modernize what is only the greatest ******* game of all time. All for little to no compensation other than a love of this game. You sir, will play it one time in it's original state - this will familiarize you with the game premise, and prepare you to appreciate all of the work Caustic Creative has put into to revamping Deus Ex. There are a few other mods available that improve on the textures and player designs; and if you manage to beat it once before they release the completed Revision mod, I'll go ahead and install New Vision and HDTP if you wish so you can run through it again with those. But at least once in the raw, original version. Trust me - you'll get sucked in and thank me later."

He's been in his room for 4 hours straight tonight. Late into the night the previous day until I forced him to detach and go to bed. Every once in a while, I check for a pulse and slide snacks and water through the door. He's already talking about wanting to play Invisible War next (Yes, I warned him about IW), then Human revolution after that. I'm so ******* proud right now.

(Side note - the boy plays athletics, is very respectful, has several friends and does in fact leave the house daily. In excellent shape and health - in case anyone wants to start chiding me for raising a gamer. We stick to gaming after dinner in this house. Because if he's in his room at night gaming, he's not out roaming the streets getting in trouble for dumb **** with stupid people. The more you know ;)

Then go ahead and ask someone to make a few extra mods. If you have something in mind that you wanna see in a mod, or a few ideas, let any one of the modders around know And they might start something. Otherwise, you could try to make some yourself. It's a pretty fun experience. Plus, you could also gain some knowledge from modding that you could use at a later stage to make a profit.
