Hey folks! Last two updates, we showed you some of the smaller ships in ES. This week we're giving you a first look at one of the biggest capital ships: The NGM Cruiser.

As the powerhouses of the militia fleet, Cruiser-class ships have carved out a new role for themselves in the Nova War at the hands of aggressive NGM officers. Normally reserved for planetary or operational defense, NGM Cruisers have been deployed in bold hit-and-run attacks on UTF supply lines and tactical targets. The large, well-armored ships can take a beating and dish it out at the same time, allowing militia soldiers to board the enemy vessel and carry out the mission. Militia Cruisers are also known to prey on smaller ships in open space, utilizing hyperspace and the militia's vast intelligence network to find and destroy enemy ships at the most opportune moments.

The NGM Cruiser has two railguns, two beam cannons, and a nifty fly-through hangar. That's right, you can fly in on one side, and out the other. In-game, it's about 700m long and presents a pretty foreboding target for the UTF team. Our capships have around 1 million HP each, so get those guns ready!

We currently have the NGM Cruiser pitted up against an asteroid base deep in space. We'll be showing you that base and also the interior of this intimidating militia vessel in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more on that.

I think it looks good, but the normal map or bump map you have on it makes it look too small... reduce it to about 1 percent or something similar to give it a better scale to detail value or drop the bump all together on the finer detail and just bump the larger stuff on it... just a suggestion... keep up the great work..

CaptainSource has a very good observation; I looked at the rest of the models and his critique seems to apply to most of the new models. I heartily second his point!

you are not telling whether these capital ships are player controlled (pilotable), stationary or just ai controlled?

They are stationary, since it is too difficult to land on a moving ship (we've tried). The weapons are all AI controlled, however players can turn them on/off with subsystems indoors, the same with shields.
