The Clone Wars have always been, in and of themselves, from their very inception, the revenge of the Sith. They were irresistible bait. They took place in remote locations, on planets that belonged, primarily, to "somebody else." They were fought by expendable proxies. And they were constructed as a win-win situation. The Clone Wars were the perfect Jedi trap. By fighting at all, the Jedi lost. With the Jedi Order overextended, spread thin across the galaxy, each Jedi is alone, surrounded only by whatever clone troops he, she, or it commands.

War itself pours darkness into the Force, deepening the cloud that limits Jedi perception. And the clones have no malice, no hatred, not the slightest ill intent that might give warning. They are only following orders. In this case, Order 66. Hold-out blasters appear in clone hands. ARC-170s drop back onto the tails of Jedi starfighters. AT-STs swivel their guns. Turrets on hovertanks swing silently. Clones open fire, and Jedi die. All across the galaxy. All at once. Jedi die.
-The war was named after the clone troopers utilized by the Republic against the battle droid forces of the CIS. These armies, the Grand Army of the Republic and the Separatist Droid Army, were two of the largest ever pitted against each other in galactic history, and the fighting between them rapidly spread to countless inhabited worlds. Beginning with the First Battle of Geonosis, both sides scored significant victories over the other, and at different times during the war either seemed likely to triumph.

The death of the Confederate Head of State Count Dooku during the Battle of Coruscant and that of the Confederate General Grievous during the Battle of Utapau, coupled with the issue of Order 66 and the deactivation of the droid army, brought an end to the fighting. At the time, it was the largest galactic conflict to date.
-
Unbeknownst to most of those involved, the conflict was started, maintained, and eventually ended by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, whose ultimate goal was the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire with him as Emperor as well as the eradication of the Jedi Order through the Great Jedi Purge. The conflict led to the Order of the Sith Lords controlling the dominant galactic government.

I will never understand the appeal of the new movies/series... yes, the concept is awesome, yes, Clones and Droids look awesome, but the movies, sweet lord. Only Attack of the Clones is even worth watching.

Haters, converge, but I won't be staying long anyway... :/

Different people have different taste my friend. I am not a very big fan of Episode 4, 5 and 6. Before 1, 2 and 3 came out I was a star trek and Babylon 5 fan. The thing that appeals most to me about prequel and the old republic era in general is its the height of the jedi. The prequel is a sort of greek tragedy for me. Seeing the fall of the jedi is tragic especially for me being an old republic fan.
On that note, my favorite era is the great sith war and great galactic war era.

REBELS

Very exciting!
I hope we get too see Yularen, Tarkin and Bail again!
Would be fun if we saw the continued story of: Maul, Ahsoka, Hondo and Rex too though.

By the way, they've tweeted that some of the CW actors will return. My bet is going to be at Tom Kane and Stephen Stanton at least.

OH GOD NO

Just kidding. Still, I hope that this time period won't be turned into a little kids' show, just like the once grand CW period was.

LOL good one crazyoldteenager, they better apply some cream to that burn. I'm kidding of course and obviously the entire span of the clone war hasn't been replaced by TCW but a good 2/3s of it sadly.

if any of you guys wanna find out more about the positive and negative effects that TCW is having on the star wars timeline check out the Alliance to Restore Canon and enlighten yourself: Moddb.com
