I support the Biblical definition of marriage, and I do believe that homosexuality is a sin as it has been defined as such fairly straight forward in the Bible.

However, many Christians try to make it seem like it's an "instant ticket to Hell" type of sin. In the same category as murder, and the like. That I don't agree with at all.

In addition, it's a free country. Regardless of our or any other religion's beliefs on the subject, it's ethically wrong for a country that claims to be free to prevent people from having a consensual relationship and have it be legally recognized.

Depends on your idea of what would be ethical.

If we deemed it our "ethical obligation" to allow people to express freedom of religion, even if that involves killing those who don't believe as they do because their book says so, than that would be shooting ourselves in the foot. Likewise with moral matters. If we allow ourselves to be driven down to levels of total depravity out of the idea of being "fair and just", than really, what is so attractive about freedom in the first place?

It's subjective. We claim to allow people to live as they like according to their beliefs, but when those beliefs don't coincide with our definition of what is ethical and orderly, than we come down on them like lions. Which isn't freedom, it's merely regulated rights.

Of all the countries on Earth, the United States, has been the most free. This has been a blessing, as well as a curse. What kept us in line was the church revivals over the last 200 years, which have now gone stale due to corruption in the church. These so called men and women of God, no longer hold to the standard, and have given themselves over to their own lusts, greed, and desires. They have itching ears, only hearing what they want to hear, and willing to throw money at it to keep it coming, corrupt. Despite this however, there are still loyalists who stick to the Word of God, with the Holy Spirits guidance. It's with the Spirit this remnant is, and always will exist. They're God's Enclave.

To be frank, If we allowed freedom in it's truest form, there would be nothing but chaos. There is no true freedom in this respect, because then there would be no order. There is only "subjective rights" granted by those in authority in all their acclaimed wisdom.

You think it would be fair to grant them to drive our country further down into depravity. That's how Sodom and Gomorrah went, little by little, they allowed themselves to slip a little more into their lusts, until one day, God put them to silence for eternity.

I'm a man of Order, not Chaos. I don't serve the blood god if you must know.
The freedom I believe in, is that which sets my soul free from the chains of hatred and corruption, allows me to walk with God, unhindered. That's my definition of freedom.

In God's eyes it does not matter how much " free " humans consider a particular nation to be or how much not free they consider it

Sin is sin of the same effect no matter if you live as a member of a tribe in Africa or a successful business person in the financial district of Manhattan NY , sin is the same in front of God

In short God is the most impartial being , force or person there is and nobody can be like that so we will be judged by our own hearts , deeds and strength of faith and i sort of agree with Joshua too

Something too permissive leads to the opposite desired effect , something too restrictive leads to hatred and revolution so the middle grounds are better

I would permit homosexuality but i would never permit defaming of God , the Holy Cross , the Bible and His teachings like it's more permitted now

I think plain satanism is the problem not homosexuality but this is another story anyway

Yes, you make good points there, especially about sin.
As to homosexuality, I don't believe it can arise in a "real" Christian society.

My belief operates like this in regard to Freedom.

Much Bible, much freedom.
Little Bible, little freedom.
No Bible, no freedom.

America considered itself free because it was buy in large a society and nation under God. We enjoyed our rights, but what kept us from "abusing" them was the moral boundaries and ethics the word of God put in place for us. This is what kept us from going down to such depravity like homosexuality. That being said, when moral problems like that arise, it's a sign the Church isn't doing its job.

Now as the word of God slips from our society, these rights are becoming curses rather than blessings. People are using them for all the wrong reasons, killing unborn children, gay marriage, mockery of all that is righteous, etc. All the while the current Church is too busy lining their own pockets and teaching lies to address the masses with the true Word. They're traitors, and will be dealt with by the Lord himself.

There used to be a time in America, where if you swore on the Bible in court, you told the whole truth, and nothing BUT the truth so help you God. When the bulk of a society operates like that, it's something to behold.

People say religion and government don't mix, but I got news for them, society and religion DO mix, and mix very well if it's based on the faith of the Bible. Honesty, Integrity, Honor. Sound like a boy scout, I know. But this is what made my country great, wasn't our military, wasn't our government. It was the Bible, the Word of God.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin, is a reproach to any people.

Just to clarify, I'm speaking of what I know from my country and it's people. There are other nations that have based much of their society on the Bible and had success, I'm not denying that. May God bless them abundantly.

Any sin is an instant ticket to hell and no amounts of "good works" can "wash away" a single sin. Thankfully good works are sacredness since Jesus completely paid the price for an infinite amount of sins and all we have to do is accept Christ as our Lord and Savior.

That said if someone wants to willingly sin I'll advise them against it but ultimately it's their own choice.

I'm with you perfectly on this one Joshua and i think that it shouldn't be something only related to Christianity.Other religions are good too.No matter if the country is : buddhist , zoroastrian , islamic , hindu or other if it holds respectable , common sense , fair , just , uncorruptible values for the people first and for the society second ( because i firmly believe - and this is me the socialist speaking - that people should go first , society second because the people form the society first of all ) then this nation is nothing but abiding to the laws of the Creator , of God

It really doesn't matter how much restrictive in appearance is a society because societies that are apparently not permissive up front hold dark hidden truths behind closed doors , behind secrecy you know - yet again another topic anyway

I'm not one to judge but it says that to whom God has given much , much will be asked for in turn and to whom He has given little , little will be asked in turn which is only fair

To be a bit progressist now i would really like a statistic calculated upon the sins of a nation on the whole compared and confronted with their good deeds , because it says that for each and every person an angel ( sitting on their right arm shoulder ) and a demon ( sitting on their left hand shoulder ) is appointed to write that person's deeds throughout their entire life

This principle must be applicable to an entire nation too...soo...even though my example may sound of the Supernatural , just for this context alone let us think...and have a guess about what nations are the most sinners and what nations are the most virtuous in the world...because , you know , if you've done 10 good deeds in the past but done 20 or 100 evil deeds afterwards , your good deeds are annulled

Nothing against the US of A but neither pro USA i am either , that you already know Joshua , but what i'm saying is that in the end USA the nation and not just USA should strive to not become like this infamous quote says ( that i could not find exactly anywhere online neither who said it but i remembered it well though )

" I burned homes and slaughtered men by the thousands in the name of the Empire......and for my deeds i am not sad at all but only by the fact that i did not get to live to do 10000 more "

I hope someone finds the right one but you know what i mean anyway.

Let's not get to that through blind self-righteousness , people , and bring harm more than healing

God bless America and may He remain at its side until the end of days

Take the time and watch this movie "Monumental: In Search of America's National Treasure".
About 48 minutes in there is some history that I, a history student never knew.

Sure, they changed the laws of America over a month ago, but this is still relevant I believe.
