Description

The Two headed eagle is to symbolize the unity of the eastern and western Roman Empires. The sword symbolizes the ability to defend themselves. The globe symbolizes that this is God's world, and it is our duty to spread his word. Finally, the crown, if the crown was on the Eagles head, it would mean the right to rule, but the crown above the Eagle means that God is above all the achievements of this empire, and that God would watch over his people. This symbol is one of the many reasons I respect Byzantines and Orthodox Christians as much as Catholicism.
