Hey modders, in recent light of members being subject to abuse here on ModDB we have taken a moment to update our Terms of Use to state things that were not as clear as they were before. I'll highlight the changes and explain exactly what they mean so there shouldn't be any confusion.

ModDB wrote:abuse of other members / content in any form, whether this is done directly, on your profile, in images, in 3rd person will not be tolerated

Simply put if you choose to abuse a member (and all work), in a first or third person i.e. passing comment or a direct message, over an image this includes but is not limited to defacing personal/work imagery then expect to be contacted by staff.

ModDB wrote:Mod DB moderators retain the right to remove any content from personal and gaming profiles in breach of the above and will deal with the member responsible in the manner they deem necessary.

This one should be self explanatory, if you post anything that breaches anything on the ToU regardless of location uploaded too we can remove it.

Hopefully I wont have to talk to anyone about breaching these rules and we can all be friends and get along. If any of you guys feel someone has breached the ToU either in relation to yourself or someone you know please let the staff know, in most cases it can be resolved really quickly.

So this is all those nice little screen shots of conversations we keep seeing on various profiles?
Or am I misreading it?

To some extent yes, it's more to deal with members thinking its ok to post images off another members profile and photoshop them.

I think I know one of the images Dave is referring to. >_>

I assume it's okay to just post PMs you have received verbatim?

stupid question: what's the difference if someone takes an image from another site, photoshops it & puts it on here? That could, in some ways, make the darwinia contest against the TOS.

Anyone that's being insulting in anyway is in violation of their ToS. Think that's what it means.

Well there's people that find my avatar abusive which is ridiculous, something they would know if they actually studied some history.

if you look at your avatar in a certain way it looks like four arrows pointing into the centre of the image

I don't find it abusive. I think it's a great representation of the classic 2600 game Warlords

I would like to say that I can sympathize with regard to the enormous difficulty of overseeing this site.I agree with your updates to the ToU.
This is a fantastic site with many international contributors and it's dignity must be maintained.
I admit that I don't envy that responsibility.Much like being a High School Principle,I'd say.But here on the web......How strict can your ToU's be so as not to deter membership yet protect their dignity? At the same time, how much leniency to show to maintain a pleasurable atmosphere conducive to the free exchange of ideas and good natured ball breaking among friends?I admire your efforts.
If I've echoed a previous post,I apologize.Still,I'll look forward to dropping an opinion of my own here from time to time. Kudos!
