Awesome. I still can't wait for Mortewood Plaza.
Wow, awesome! :D
Man, my voice still sounds gay. LOL :D
You're 15, what else would you sound like? :P
Good point! :D LOL
Im guessing you are the new guy then? Good run man, you will probably be better prepared for the next show ;). Good job all of you.
Renaissance Cascade FTW!
I made a mistake in the ModCast. The main character in the Mortewood Plaza is named Eric Slade, not "John".
YAY! some one remembers My MOD! Blind monk society.
Check out my new one The Nightmare Chronicles! This one has graphics!
lol awesomepossom by saying that it sounds like your bringing us something totally new to gaming :P
HEHE, Indeed! I am making the first game with graphics... All i need to do is finish my time machine and go back to the before pong!
I don't think I will ever forget your Mod.
Truly a great idea that really pushed my ideas and concepts on games ;)
Great job!
Thanks!
Ha, we got mentioned on the modcast :)
Some extra info needs to be added related to the AvP2 online community: I am not the only guy behind keeping AvP2 online. Jeff (his nickname on lithfaq.com is The_One) also plays an important part, hosting the server, providing various interfaces for third party game broswer-like tools and so on.
Regarding the mod itself, Brian got closer to what we aim for: play AvP2 (keep the universe) in a different style, by adding new game modes, objective based instead of frag based. The Team Fortress concept provides that. Another thing that we aim to enforce is better teamwork and the class system from TF is designed with that in mind.
I guess that these two (teamwork + objective base gameplay) guarantees that Team Fortress mods will still be made, for almost each FPS that is launched.
Crysis Team Fortress, anyone?
Duke Theft Auto is a remake of Grand Theft Auto 1 only. GTA/DTA II will be the next project. ;)
I think I didn't explain the new engine to well. I will address about it more in depth in the next update, when ever that is. :)
Still looking forward to updates, just don't succumb to feature creep!
Hey guys,
I'm the leader and programmer for FragOut and I thought I'd clear up some things:
The gamemodes aren't just dm, currently there's a adapted form of deathmatch but with rounds and "survival bonus" which allows you to score more points for staying alive.
There's also a teammode which is Last Team Standing, if you played PVK2, Unreal Tournament, etc etc you may know it, two teams pitted against each other, each player has 1 life, if they die they have to sit out the (short) round, first team to kill off the other team wins.
As for released status, it's not released anywhere, it's still in Closed Beta with a some beta testers on the team, however some outsiders have gotten the chance to play it, such as CubicVirtuoso from Podcast17 and Editor321 from Half-Life creations.
About the windgrenade, if you're unclear what it does, watch this: Moddb.com
Like said it launches people away, but the most usefull propierty is launching yourself away, there's some maps that make heavy use of this, putting the holy hand grenade(a super grenade) into spots reachable only by using the sailboat.
As for future plans, FragOut isn't gonna release anytime soon, there's still a bunch of stuff to do and we are still moving further and further away from the HL2 universe... but you may see more of that soon.
Gamemodes are still something I'm thinking about, so they're not definitive.
I'm also sad so few people take the mod seriously, it's got wacky stuff for sure, but we are working hard to make the gameplay balanced, enjoyable and provide a fun new experience that will last for longer then 1 hour.
So ... don't be too fooled by the wacky looks, there's crazy stuff, but care will be taken to balance it all.
Fair enough, looking forward to future updates.
Finally Mech warrior on modcast :D
(not sure why it replied) I put it as a new post
Nah I didn't get offended it's just for some reason stuff related to my mod is the only thing which seems to be able to get through my thick skin and really annoy me. ¬¬
Yeah I released that gameplay video just because of Ryan ;) :P
"mmm yeah! somebody might enjoy this" made me laugh :D
good podcast. keep 'em coming!
Awesome guys, just such a laugh! :D
Also, Mortewood main character is "Eric Slade", not "John".
Sorry AJ but you failed there, why don't you go back to your bungie! :P
Haha thanks for including me, it was awesome!
Heh, I actually enjoyed this one, great array of people even you Henley.
Top notch.
To ajhallmon: Just read a bit about the stuff you are going to talk about on the modcast. Write down some short notes about each mod. That way you will be better prepared and have more to say than just a couple of words (you know what I mean).
Thanks for the advice!
However, I did do all of this, but this was my first time on the modcast, so I was a little bit, uh, like "wtf"?
Anyways I would of actually played a lot of the mods if my graphics card didn't fail a few days before the modcast.
I can't even play Half-Life 2 at the moment, so when I can afford a new PC, things will be alot more accurate.
AJ
It was good to hear a younger member on the modcast this time.
However I would recommend not to take it so seriously. The other guys maybe taking apart your arguments a bit - but only in the sense of fair play and accuracy.
Nobody cares about hearing a voice that's a bit "whinny". I would however work on your public speaking in your spare time - it is a skill that you develop as you gain experience!! Frequent "pregnant pauses" and the like are a bit painful if they're not followed by witty banter. Remember to "think" jokes - modding isn't all about developing games for fun and enjoyment after all!!
Definitely think through your arguments more thoroughly beforehand... Then you would spend the whole modcast beating yourself up (you don't want a permanent catch phrase of "I fail" after all)!!
Good luck for the next modcast you take part in!!
Bob
Excellent Modcast! I think the new style (less length, more essential discussions) sounds pretty good.
I don't think anyone said melee was dead?
Exactly!
Good question!
Wow, I get so much adrenaline playing this.
Go mortewood best out of all in my opinion big zombie fan got to test out few betas of some old school zombie games such as silent hill ah good ol days anyway good mods overall but mortewood takes cake for me :)
melee IS dead, people play brawl now
Melee will never die. It's still playing strong and will continue until the end of gaming aka the end of this world.
I wish somebody could manage jedi Knight style melee from a FPS perspective, that would be awesome.
Oh maw gawd I love the music for the modcast, and I love the mods on the modcast, and I love the Source engine :D
I loved the Live episode... that was cool...
Hey guys, thanks for the Real World mention - I really appreciate it. I wish someone had told me though -- I could have released an update for it. =)
Thanks anyway. ^_^
I miss Lukas :(
