No, thats the new vehicle explosion effect i think, they have separate particles for maps ;) just like the sounds and effects in the CQ pack is different.

seems a little too big for a vehicle explosion. and when did they say there would be a new effect for it? in the blog?

not once do they mention armored kill in there, its all CQ.

i still say its a fuel tank or something. start up the game go to operation firestorm and blow up a truck tanker or one of those big oil container. thats about the size of that explosion, definitely not a vehicle.

no it isn't and yes i did watch the trailer. and i did look at that picture, you can clearly see the size difference. you can also see that the tank explosion spikes a lot while this one is very round and mushroom like, which only fuel/oil tank explosion FX have

so i still say its a fuel/oil tank and not a brand new FX for tanks

Did you read this part? "We have a lot more destruction than in previous games, so if we were to use the set of FX from the base game, the rooms and corridors in Close Quarters would be literally filled with smoke for long periods of time, potentially ruining the gameplay."
If there are new effects in CQ, then there's gotta be new effects in AK too

i wouldn't be so sure about that. CQ is much different from AK. the new FX are purely because CQ in indoors that doesn't mean they'll make whole new explosion FX

look at the gameplay here:

different particle effects bro. trust me :) look at the chopper gunner's explisions, the colors and intensity of the explosion is more dense/vibrant.
