This is a group for those who have broken their mental chains of religion, as well as those who have never been bound by them in the first place. As there being no way to prove the existence of deities, nor anything of superstition. Anything anyone says about any such superstitious notion is a guess and your guess is as good as mine.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."

apparently a researcher has finally exposed the myth of large scale christain persectution

has you can guess christains are trying to protect there fantisy or persecution by trying to silence her and suppress the truth (as usual)

I am going to see if I can get ahold of her research, and if possible I will post links.

I find the values of the Conservative Christian Americans to be rather funny in just how contradictory their values are.

They insist on keeping their guns, downsizing government, having pure capitalist freedom, praise the ideals of a republic, and in life they attempt to be as free from the grasp of authority as they can. (looking at them from a positive standpoint)

However, their ultimate goal is to ascend to heaven, which is essentially a theological monarchy, where God is the unquestionable king of all existence.

So, you insist to die a free man, so you can live on as an immortal slave?

They subconsciously know its all crap- and the idea of eternity as a slave shows this, their pushing for "freedom" for themselves shows this-

the pyschology of christanity is so messed up, entire journals could be wrote on the problems it causes- unfortunatly its another case of christain pressure and threats messing with science
its common knowlegde in the field any serious pyachologists, even the religious ones will tell you its so. but its not put out their as common knowlegde because pyschologists like to be able to do their work without being annoyed by wackos.

It's funny how they say: "Something from nothing" when God pretty much created everything from nothing.

Now about the article:

"because they know they are wrong and missing out on something their RELIGION(-_-) can never offer."

Wut? If I know I'm wrong why would I be an Atheist?

"And then there’s this. Christians can go to bed at night confident in the knowledge that their eternity is secure, atheists can do no such thing. "

And here's the fear of death, I don't want, by any means, live forever, in my opinion, eternal life it's like a curse.

"Within the heart of every man that ever walked the Earth there is a God shaped vacuum that cannot be filled with anything but God."

This is kinda true, KINDA, religion does "give" a meaning to your life, it also feel loved, important, holy, wouldn't that feel good? That you're important and that there's someone else out there caring for you? Sure does, but it's all an illusion :P

"Hence, if Dawrwinian evolution is true, we should distrust our cognitive faculties as the products of an unguided and irrational process"

... You clearly never heard of natural selection.

Life can be taken as a blessing or a curse. An infinite life though...might just end up being a curse because there is no end.

Then again, it could also bring an eternity of joy and happiness if there is an infinite things in the universe to do.

I want to - well not eternal or at least not eternal without the option of a final death - live longer than a normal human life span would be. But I know thats something - along with an infinite list of other things like "existing" - what Gods cannot accomplish.
