This is a group for those who have broken their mental chains of religion, as well as those who have never been bound by them in the first place. As there being no way to prove the existence of deities, nor anything of superstition. Anything anyone says about any such superstitious notion is a guess and your guess is as good as mine.

I've been to a few forums for philosophical and psycho theory and I was appalled to see very intelligent insights that can't be proven and there were people who criticized them as not being empirically correct, not having evidence, and even saying it's just acting a posturing with big words most people don't understand. These were atheists who only respected things that can be explained empirically and not just intellectual theorizing. I, being an atheist Marxist completely disagree with this thinking. I think philosophical theory has a well deserved place in a secular, egalitarian society. I brought this here in case there were people who disagree or agree with me because I want to know how many atheists think in which way.

You can't have solid evidence for absolutely everything in this world and/or the Universe . (at least now)
I see you being an atheist Marxist, well I prefer to think in a flexible manner,I'm no extremist,I carefully think and rethink everything until I get rational satisfaction that is in concordance with reality .
Of course philosophical theory is an invaluable tool in a so called *egalitarian society* .
It's too bad that in my country religion is used effectively as a manipulation device,we have more churches than schools and hospitals together . Can you believe this **** ?
Church is separated from the state, yeah right...

Hi guys. I was thinking about this group and the Christian group here on ModDB, and well, since I don't really feel in the mood to argue with anyone or starting another comment war (unintentionally of course), I thought maybe I could just settle with asking you some questions, if I may? I'm agnostic by the way. (Not that it matters).

That comment war was started by a demand for us to respect things that we find silly and don't believe in; it was destined to go badly.

As for questions, feel free to ask, I can't really see any problems there. Though as ComradeWinston said below, anything that would drag out quite long might be better sent as a private message.

Actually, I wasn't referring to that comment war, I was referring to three comment wars that were mostly about the law (mostly copyright law, but some other laws as well).

Anyways, I was just gonna ask you about the hostilities between this group and the Christian ModDB group. Like how far back does it go? What are the primary reasons for the hostilities? (Excluding the most obvious ones.) If possible, would you "make peace" with them? Do you believe that you someday would be able to accept each other and be friends (more or less)? Etc...

Naturally people who think you'll go to hell for all eternity on the charge of not loving Jesus enough and then those people who think such a notion is utterly silly, as well as a detrimental one; attempts to convince one or the other of something are inevitable. Of course the first to fire any shots across the field were random religious people, since the Christian group was already established.

Most notoriously in the early days however was PsychoTroll, perhaps my first brush with incredibly annoying agnostics who hate atheists. As many religious people there may have been, he certainly was mindless drone of a pest and died a pest.

I can't speak for the very start of the group, but in the years I've been a member, there have been some particularly egregious members from the Christian page that essentially trolled us constantly. This was done in tandem with various flame images on the debate group that basically blamed us for things like the Holocaust and Stalin's purges. Most of the people over there seem to be nice enough folks, but the relatively constant trolling by some of them, as well as members of other religious pages, coupled with what seems to be inaction against them by the site moderators has left us with a bitter taste in our mouths for the most part.

Apparently, the site moderators are afraid that they will be flamed/insulted/god knows what else by the christians. And some of the moderators are part of these groups or a believer so they don't really care.

I suppose we also have a forum though it does often remain neglected. You certainly could give it purpose.

Sorry man, but I probably will refrain from using the forums, not that many people use it (ModDB forums in general). I know since I also have a forum for my mod, not that many post in it. Maybe just six times each year it's actually used.
