This is a group for those who have broken their mental chains of religion, as well as those who have never been bound by them in the first place. As there being no way to prove the existence of deities, nor anything of superstition. Anything anyone says about any such superstitious notion is a guess and your guess is as good as mine.

Not to be like an idiot and all, but seriously, Protestantism makes everyone think that other types of Christians are idiots too.

I really disliked Puritanism after reading books on it... Puritans were practically cult members that killed people who were suspected to be witches and they took the Bible extremely literal.

I'm surprised they sucked up to God after acknowledging every Bible story in order to get into heaven (according to their beliefs, even other believers would go to Hell because they weren't as serious as them).

The most horrifying part is if the Puritans were right; roughly 90% of the world at the least would go to Hell.

With that said, I'm SO glad that the world has gotten away from all that religious zealot-ism. I can only imagine the horrors of what would happen if the Bible or the Qua-ran was put into our Constitution here in America (like a Theocracy).

Just a thought:
Let's supose that a god does exsist.
That means hes an atheist right?

I wouldn't think so xD.

He would believe in himself, and since he would be God he would believe in God lol.

Or something... xD.

But he wouldn't technically...worship himself...? Could he?

Ten10dix Mar 24 2012, 10:34am replied:

Meh, you don't have to worship something to believe in it xD.

Then again, maybe he does? Who knows? See, it would be so much simpler if God (if he does, in fact, exsist) would just show up and let us interview him for a few minutes. But I guess he must have better things to do xD.

Maybe he does and has a huge ego xD
Maybe he worships the guy who created him...oh wait no he always exsisted.

At least most Christians believe God was always there to begin with and that he had no creation.

There is no real way to explain how suddenly an infinitely powerful being came into existence.

I just don't get how something created out of nothing is less plausible then something that exsists but was never created... xD.

I'm not good at making speeches, neither is my english good.. But i'll try to write as good as i can:

My point here is: Why do people search for a some Deity to worship? To find some peace? Some comfort? Perhaps some save haven to back in to?

Why can't people simply think that we humans have the potential, and that we don't need to give our prayers to some magical being in the skies?

I mean, if there is truly a giant magical heaven in the skies, and a big dude with a beard waiting for every human to worship him and his son, i think he should make himself a little more "visible" and not make us believe in some being we can't see-hear-touch or smell..

I think, that it is WE, the human race who in our small mind invented that instead of dying completely, we go in some magical land were we all live together forever..

I can't tell for sure that some deity does not exist, but i'm sure that no religious man can tell me that his deity exists for sure either.

Who knows, perhaps i'll be standing in front of a heavenly gate when i die, and maybe i don't..

..The point was, that even if you argue here all you want, you can't, in any way prove yourself right about are there "God(s)" or not.

Personally wise I know someone who uses religion to deal with the hurt of realizing someone she loves is a total ****. So she loves god instead as a way of keeping herself happy by being ignorant, I'm pretty sure deep down inside she's still an atheist though.

!!!karmenjell Mar 14 2012, 3:27am replied:

i think (to answer your 1st question) that people seek deity/afterlife because as humans it is extremely difficult to comprehend death ie: not existing anymore - as a species we are so self-important that it is just not understandable to us that one day we will just simply cease to exist.
i think thats probably how the idea of religion was borne...
but why now,(in our developed society) it still rules countries
and is responsible for the deaths of millions.....well, who F**king knows?!

TheUnbeholden Mar 11 2012, 5:39pm replied:

People believe because they want a explanation for everything. Why things are the way they are, and why we exist.
But also to not be afraid of death, and to come to terms with it. Even if its for a unprovable reason.

All that person can prove is of how strong their conviction is... or knowledge of their bible.
I suppose its more about emotion than logic. But it can also be in the form of hearing a deity speak to you which whether it really is a deity, deciding to favor you or some medical condition, is something we can't really tell unless there is other symptoms pointing to a known disease.

True miracles on the other hand... now that would be something.

"In the skies"

No in a different dimension, the one we go to when we die.

90% of humanity believes in a religion. We just have to accept that alot of people do rather than slander them.

90% of humanity. Can I have a source? I've found so many pie charts on relgion and atheism that contradict each other I would love to see one with good statistics.
