This is a group for those who have broken their mental chains of religion, as well as those who have never been bound by them in the first place. As there being no way to prove the existence of deities, nor anything of superstition. Anything anyone says about any such superstitious notion is a guess and your guess is as good as mine.

The Asura are a race of scientists, and the Charr killed their gods. A good portion of the people who work(ed) on Guild Wars must at the very least be secular. Not that it really matters, but I still find it interesting that such a mainstream title would have an atheist race as well as an anti-theist race.

Don't talk about it to loud, or fox news will try and get it banned

honestly i think we need more games and movies showing positive atheist roles... or badass fighting atheist heros either one would work. or mabye if we start with childrens movies and shows and work are way up .

then mabye we would be treated better in the US.

Honestly, I don't think atheists aren't treated "badly" in the US, except maybe in the most backward and isolated establishments. I've lived in a number of states, and never have I been mistreated by anyone who wasn't a blithering idiot who mistreated all people in the first place.

And admittedly, I also don't think that atheists should be portrayed in television any more than Christians are, which usually, especially in children's shows, they aren't. The last thing we need is having children brainwashed by more television, regardless of whom it's promoting.

However, some things atheists love should certainly be promoted. Reason, logic, science... Those are the areas people need to be educated in :P

If there's anyone that treats atheists badly, it's their own families (if they are religious zealots like mine were). Not to mention, if you're non-religious or worse, atheist...good luck becoming president of the U.S.

Other than that there may be an occasion religious zealot harassing one or what not, but I don't think people are gonna get murdered over it.

I estimate we'll have an irreligious president in the next 40 years, if it even takes that long. A short while ago we still had segregation in the U.S., and now we have a black president; and with the rising numbers of atheists even in this backwards country, I think that in the coming decades it'll be harder to be elected as a religious person rather than as an atheist/agnostic. I just hope the matter of religious beliefs, or lack thereof, is eventually left out of politics entirely.

I am not as sure as you are it will be that easy.
religion is a rabid beast and the more it is forced into a coner, the more vicsious and aggressive it gets.
as the saying goes- old gods die hard.

Oh yes, the extremists will remain extremists, or become even greater extremists. But the moderates won't join them methinks- they'll end up irreligious, or maybe deist. One day, true religion will be little more than the practice of a radical minority.

In response to some posts below...

The Christian page was not sealed off to you guys, it was sealed to combat a troll that was coming after one of our members and it spilled over into the group.

I had intended to only seal it for a day or two but real life issues prevented me from getting online and fixing that.

Just a clarification for those of ya that thought we were singling out you guys lol.

(On a personal note, I kind of enjoy the debate between Christians and Atheists when both sides stay civilized and respectful). :)

If you fellas think that any of that crap is planned within the Christian group, you are sorely mistaken. I can't speak for any private conference between Elffriend, yuri, and others (if there's been any) but any trolling done here has been done by them personally.

I don't even have a problem with atheists. I believe people should live and let live. Don't tell me what to believe and I won't tell you what to believe. I try to keep that idea present in the Christian group, but unfortunately a couple of members see fit to come here and try to "save" you folks. I try to tell them there's no use in shoving religion down the throats of a person or group of persons who don't want to hear it, but many of them with their misguided sense of responsibility to spread the good news have continued to come here and try to... again, "save" you fellas.

So as usual, I would ask you to direct your blame at the people responsible. Not at my group. :)
