Hey guys, is there a part in the New Testament of the Bible that says 'no' to homosexual relations? I don't believe there is and I was told that there isn't.

The reason why I'm asking is because my family believes homosexuality is wrong because the Bible says it's wrong, yet also say they don't have to follow the laws and customs of the Old Testament anymore. Right now they're in the process of brainwashing my little sister with their skewed view of Christianity and I just would love to show them how wrong and ****** up this makes them for doing so.

I'm sensing a massive contradiction in their beliefs.

I can't help much, but I wish you good luck in stopping the brainwashing being performed by your parents. Save your sister from ignorance and bias!

I doubt he can, she will have to firgure it out by herself

you can help some- but remember christains by their nature are afraid of death and punishment and she will most likely fight you out of fear
religion is the greaest prison ever constructed
it has no bars, walls, fences or locks just promise of an imaginary reward if you stay and the threat of eternal punishment if you leave.

I searched a little bit around the internet and found this:

Leviticus 18:22:

"Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 20:13:

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

1 Timothy 1:9-10

"Knowing and understanding this: that the Law is not enacted for the righteous (the upright and just, who are in right standing with God), but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinful, for the irreverent and profane, for those who strike and beat and [even] murder fathers and strike and beat and [even] murder mothers, for manslayers,[For] impure and immoral persons, those who abuse themselves with men, kidnapers, liars, perjurers--and whatever else is opposed to wholesome teaching and sound doctrine"

Jude 1:7

"In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

Hope this helps :)

Yeah...those are common Bible thumper quotes used against homosexuality, but from what I understand, they're all from the OT and thus, the law should no longer apply (according to one verse said by Jesus himself, although he also said the opposite in another verse...).

One thing to note is that "sexual relations" here doesn't necessarily mean that homosexual partnership is immoral. It could refer only to sexual intercourse between men. Since the main type of sexual intercourse between men is anal sex, and the bible probably forbids anal sex in any case, it pretty much ends there, unless they did take oral sex in account.

I don't see why should love between men be forbidden. One can get things out of love without penetrating their partner in the bed.

Velancious Feb 15 2013, 3:22pm replied:

But there isn't anything in the Bible specifically stating anything against the practice of anal sex. If sex between men is disallowed, but homosexuality is...isn't that not fair to them?

Then there's also the question of: So anal sex between male and female is allowed? But between men it's not? Why is that?

RighteousFighter Feb 17 2013, 12:38pm replied:

Hmm, I'm not sure if it does so. I haven't read the bible to be honest.

But wouldn't it make sense to disallow it for everyone? Your ***** can create new life. So why put it somewhere that can only spit out excrement? Why disgrace your life creating device?

I wonder as well if these books even take oral sex into account. Might they not consider it as sex?

Ask them where in the Bible this text is. If your parents say so, they might know where.

Well, that's the thing. I wanna show my parents if I get the chance that they're just another little sect of Christianity that picks and chooses from the Bible. In the OT, I remember it says men who sleep with other men should be killed.

Yet, you see these Bible thumpers running around preaching hate against gays who say, "Oh, we are not bound by the old laws anymore! That was a different time!" Now, I'm entirely against following many of the ****** up rules in the Bible, but this is something I can definitely call them out for.

In order to educate myself, I decided to start reading the Qur'an just as some atheists have read the bible. Found a nice website for this, which even offers me to read it in my own language.

First experience wasn't pleasant though, as the website fooled me. I thought I had read 3 chapters in a relatively short amount of time, but then I found out 2/3 of each chapters content where hidden and would appear if I scroll to the bottom of the page. Now I have to read those chapters again. :<
