Killing your son because a voice in your head told you to isn't normal.

Interesting how the image fails to mention how this was merely a test and he was prevented from killing his son. :P

But also you must consider that to the Christian, death is not something to be feared.

Ya ought to try to think of all the angles in something such as this. :)

Yeah, but what sick God would do such a test? Obedience over family? That's horseshit. Heaven and all that stuff wasn't mentioned until later in the Bible with Jesus I believe.

God wanted to see if Abraham had remembered the promise that God told him, that Isaac would become a nation. Also you must see that God gave Abraham his son and so he wanted to see if Abraham valued God above all other things, it was just a test. Which God stopped when he saw that Abraham truelly followed God, and as a result God provided a lamb (note this might have been the same hill on which Jesus died on about 2000 years later, so this might have had much more meaning to it then just a test) God also blesses those that go through hardship and do not turn away from him. (Job is the perfect example of that. Satan took away all that Job had, yet when God saw that Job still praised God. God blessed him and gave him much more then what he had earlier)

But that still ignores the fact that he wanted to see how obedient he was. If God told you to kill a beloved family member to prove your worth to him, would you do it? It's a sick test.

God has the power over all life so not doing what he askes for is not as wise as you think it is. I would ask God why he wants me to do what he is telling me to do.

But does that make him moral for asking you to test loyalty over love of a physical being? And this is all assuming God is not just a voice in a delusional person's head. If I had a voice in my head telling me to kill someone for eternal happiness I would get mental help.

You make a good point. However trusting God is the best thing that a human being can do. By the way a reason why many events that happened cannot happen agian (ie the flood) is because Noah would be locked up in a mental institution after getting accused of cutting down trees that dont belong to him and not having a building permit for building the ark. (society has really over done it with all that stuff:D)

Intresting how you fail to see that only a vile god would even think of such a test.

It was just a test, God was strictly against human sacrific. Check news on the christian group conserning this topic. Also like I said above this could have been the hill which had God's name in it. (aka the place where Jesus was killed, or Jerusalem)

Why would an omniscient, omnipotent being test anybody? "God" is not worthy of being called a God.

God wants humans to learn for themselves and he wants them to achieve things out of free-will. Even if God can look into the future doesn't mean he does. It would be cruel for God to force us to obey him. Instead we are given choice. We can join the rebellion with Satan who is the god of this world (and look how the world is with morals, laws and codes fading. It's horrible.) or we can join God who wants the best for humanity.

You know nothing of being a father like most atheists it seems.

So, he puts humans through suffering, diseases and death, only because he wants to see do they serve him without question, or instead turn against him?

Well, that's very kind of him.

I see what you're saying matt, but within enlightened mindsets life is sacred and to be protected by any means necessary, wether you fear death or not.

Woah I just remembered the Binding of Issac is an awesome game. Time to go play it.

That game is incredibly hard for me to beat still. I always get the unlucky combinations of rooms and keys. Like I find a bunch of keys on one level AFTER having just passed a level that had 3 gold locked chests.
