This group has been formed to gather the people who enjoy Japanese anime and all of its facets, to salute the people from the land of the Rising Sun.

We do not want any ecchi or hentai images in the image gallery. Those that are posted will be removed. Also, take it easy in posting your entire collection of Naruto images. You should only share a few that you personally like. For the rest, people can always find them on their own. I recommend posting a link in your description (and every image should ideally contain a description).

Sorry, but I just completely disagree. Anime has a much more deeper meaning and explanation then it just being Japanese. And I believe anyone who believes that truly doesn't take much effort into it.

Anime is a lot more then just being from Japan or being made by a Japanese person. It's not the artystle or the genres, but it's the feel that it creates. I for one get a huge surreal and creative tone from Anime. It's a very different feeling from say, Disney Cartoons. Yet they share endless similarities and Anime is highly based off the Disney style hence why the similarities are so striking.

Anime is not Japanese Animation. But it's not an Art Style. But it is instead a Genre all on it's own. But what defines this genre? Well, to me, I feel like what can clearly define it is that Anime is simply a mix-and-match child of virtually every cartooning and animation style that has existed.

(I'm not making this comment a reply because Moddb's comment system is whacky.)

Also, saying that Anime isn't an Artstyle because there's "No set-in-stone" method of it is pretty stupid. Cartoons are exactly the same in that regard, they all have VERY different Artystyles but we still know they're all Cartoons.

Many Animes have very different Artstyles, and some not even made in Japan, but we still categorize them as Anime.

I can go very deep into this, but it would probably be wasted effort as no one in this group will probably accept this anyway.

I have one question for you, though: Do you really know Anime? Or do you just watch it?

Listen smartass, Anime is by defition Japanese cartoons and nothing else. What you think is Anime from outside Japan is called "Animesque" because it looks the way Anime typically does but is not it. Stop claiming ******** you have no idea about.

Examples include "Avatar: The last airbender" (which is American), "Wakfu" (which is French) and things like "Heidi" which happens to be a cooperation of Germany and Japan, which means it is partially anime.
A reverse-example would be "Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt" which is anime LOOKING like an American cartoon.

I am writing this because I care about others and don't want people like you be made fun of for their stupidity by other people who are a lot less tolerant than me. So lay it of and learn the correct terms and definitions.

I refuse because the "Correct" term is self-entitled ********. "Oh no, it's MY Anime, I don't want it to be from anywhere else!" is basically the attitude here. But as I've said, it is wasted effort here because pretty much everyone here are traditionalist neophobics.

The only reason I actually care about this is because this is highly restricting content here. There's so many things that look, function, act, and progress like Anime, and are even made by Japanese people, but aren't considered Anime because their Country of origin isn't Japan. Which is ******* ********.

But anyway, this is what I'm talking about. Wasted Effort.

Also, n5, way to completely ignore my argument.

Because anime is by definition Japanese cartoons. It has nothing to do with style at all.

So, if an amimation is made out side of Japan with the style of Japanese anime, then it is not anime?

Anime is NOT an art style as there's no set-in-stone style in anime (there is a LOT of styles in anime). Big-round annoying eyes? Even Disney have them since the old days. Mechas? A lot of old cartoons also have them.

Also there's a term "animesque" for those that have "anime style" influence. if this webcomic and Avatar is an anime, then we also could say things like Thundercats, My Little Pony, and League of Legends are also anime. but they are not!
Although it have become a full-cycle development as numbers of anime got slight western cartoon influences (such as PantyStocking), even the retro Astro Boy is very cartoon. thus, we refer anime as japanese animation instead the art style.
