Synopsis
------------
During the early 21st century a meteorite crashed into Antarctica. After scientists went to study the crash a gigantic explosion followed, classified as the 'Second Impact'. Shinji Ikari is a fourteen year-old boy who has come to Toyko3, a city that also serves as a fortress, to meet up with his father who left him many years ago. The city also happens to be under seige by monsterous creatures called 'Angels' at the time of his arrival. Somehow Shinji finds himself in Evangelion Unit 01, and manages to synchronize with the giant robot. Shinji is told to become its permanent pilot, and is thrown into combat as the city's last defense for fighting off the angels. However, as Shinji fights, he begins to realize the truth behind the Angels, the Second Impact, man's struggle against God and what he truely is afraid of.
isn't death & rebirth just a compressed nge series with a tiny amount of new content?
I only watched the tv series (i have the movies here waiting for me to have some nice time to watch them), so i can't comment on that, but i think that both Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion sum up the tv series (2 movies).
If anyone watched them and can tell about it, would be cool ;) (but keep spoilers to minimum :P)
no, End of Evangelion is an alternative ending of the series.
many people dislike it since it's highly obscure, full of bizarre **** and has few disgusting moments, but personally i totally adore it.
the plot is hard to follow and most scenes can be interpreted in many different ways, but i still recommend EoE to everyone, at least for the impressive visuals if for nothing else.
Obscure? Sounds epic, really need to get time to watch the movies, the tv series were preatty cool too.
Perhaps during my vacations i get around to watch them ^^

if you mean -Rebuild- OVA, then yes, 2.0 has been out for quite some time.

2.2 (special edition) came out some months ago too, so sad i wasn't able to get a hold on it :(
