Canon, what is it? Yes it is a type of artillery fixture however it has another meaning. “To understand canon and continuity, the overall Star Wars saga should be looked at as a set of stories written by many different people which "document\" past "events." Although some stories are more reliable than others, they all are looked upon as part of the overall "history." It should also be remembered that all of these stories are simply that—stories. There are numerous errors that inevitably arise between the stories simply because different authors have their own ways of telling the story and may not have the time and resources to perfectly align the details.”- Wookieepedia. Different types of canon are present. In Star Wars canon, the highest level of canon is the 6 films made by George Lucas, the next level of cannon includes Tv Series such as the 2 Clone Wars series one made by Dave Filloni and the other by Genndy Tartakovsky. Last but not least, the next level of canon is the Novels and Comics written and published by various authors and companies.
In Tolkien's franchise, the concept of Canon is a little more complex, for the subject is still being debated. Naturally, the highest canon material is works published by J. R. R. Tolkien and his son, Christopher Tolkien. “I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama .” - J.R.R Tolkien. From 2001 to 2003, film maker, Peter Jackson released 3 films depicting his interpretation of The Lord Of the Rings trilogy. Certain events that Jackson cut out or re-wrote in his interpretation sparked controversy amongst some fans of the series. The biggest issue was that in Jackson's interpretation of The Return Of The King in 2003, depicted the Shire a happy and un-touched place after the destruction of the one ring. In Tolkien's book, when Frodo returns from destroying the ring, the Shire is in ruins, industrialized, and secretly under the control of Saruman. Despite the differences, Jackson's films are loved and enjoyed and will continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
The goal of this group, The Alliance To Restore Canon, is to compile and discuss contradictions with canon in various sci-fi and fantasy franchises. Not to criticize the franchises but to simply make note of the contradictions and ask “how does this contradict? Why does this contradict? Is it an accident or on purpose? Is it directly from the franchise or one of the many independent authors?”. So again, we are not criticizing the franchises, just wondering why these contradictions exist and why have they not been fixed. Something as simple as deeming it uncanon can fix a contradiction. Like the 2008 Clone Wars series for example, George Lucas has not yet officially declared the series canon and whether or whether not the series will re-write existing canon entirely or simply add to the time- line that had been established before 2008.
At the moment, the Alliance To Restore Canon is mostly made up of star wars fans, but we are open to other sci-fi and fantasy series so if you have found contradictions in other franchises and feel as if your not being heard, don't be afraid to join. All are welcome and all are treated with respect.

Im making my own Clone Wars Show... with blackjack! and hookers! no but seriously, im in the process of writing my own show just for the sheer fun of it.
The last development update i will write before version 1.0 of the Star Wars: Clone Wars Submod is eleased
All we had to worry about before was continuity but there is a far greater darkness gaining strength.
Calling all ARC members! If you've joined ARC then you probably did it because you love expanded universe, so why not join the Expanded Universe fan group?...
Your assumptions are rediculous Delta, The last season would very likely not contradict any of your posted stories. Different battles and even different events in the same battle still exist with all of The clone wars. To claim otherwise shows a complete lack of understanding of how EU works. Every story and comic still happened although details may be a bit more vague
when the series first came out, did we (all star wars fans) not think that they would contradict the pre-established canon? yet they did.
with that being said are my assumptions as ridiculous as you previously claimed?
we dont know if they were going to contradict those stories, however, given what we've seen in the past, it would not be entirely wrong to assume they would.
you also claim that i have no idea how EU works,of course i know how it works, but the system needs to be refined to prevent stuff like this happening in the future, that's why i tend to ignore the hierarchy.
if you were new to star wars and you started reading all of these books the started watching all the shows, you'd be as confused as hell wouldn't you? i know i would, and many others would too.
yes but they broke the blockade and liberated the planet immediately after it was taken. the battles of kamino were separated by a few months and the battles of geonosis were separated by almost an entire year. Ryloth was taken by the CIS then shortly after retaken by the republic, sounds alot like an extension of the same battle.
thats an assumption. The time between CIS taking it and Republic invading it has never been revealed. We can figure it was atleast a few weeks to a few months atleast because in supply lines they do not have reinforcements to send to ryloth reinforce the garrison there
saying that it took a few weeks or months would be an assumption as well would it not?
educated guess. Its not like "O we have no reinforcements for them" Next day "Hey look reinforcements" task forces must be assembled for a new campaign
sounds more like a regular old guess. couldn't be months because the entire war is only 3 years by the time ryloth comes around the war is already in it's second year, weeks is more plausible but neither of us have sufficient or reliable information to say how long in between the taking of ryloth and the liberation really was. as far as im concerned its 1 big battle, even if their 1 day apart, battles take more than a day to be resolved even in star wars.
now enough of this silly debating ITS OVER, you got what you wanted, the timeline is now stained, tainted, and royally screwed up. my fellow colleges and i at ARC are just happy that it ended before more damage could be done.
now there are new and exciting things on the horizon, let us stop this pointless bickering and put aside our former identities as fans of the show and fans of the actual war and become regular old Star Wars fans again.
I will be happy doing that if you stop trying to taint what the clone wars is but posting inaccurate comments that I have to prove wrong.
here you go again, your everything thats richous and true, and im some sort of degenerate sewer dweller.
its crap admit it, its all crap but its the status quo and god forbid anyone challenges the status quo.
TCW is tainting what the clone wars is not me.
