That article sources from "Sina Military Network", which is basically a blog, but then links to Want China Times, some other Taiwanese blog. Where did they get that 12 tonnes from? Closest guess is 6.5 tonnes load.
I wouldn't recommend taking most if any information for granted from that site. They have a track record of saying what they want to see, not what is the truth.

I'd say the 'original' test paint makes it looks like a crashtest dummy. Also nice article regarding its 'flaws'
