This reminds me of some of ammerica's practices in wwII...
one example was that they'd keep on giving a certain airplane (forgot the name, i think it was nicknamed "beasts" or smth? idk) to the troops in the pacific but it had terrible characteristics.
the tips of the wings could fold to save space, but that meant those pieces would fall off ocasionally.
Casualties during flights & landing due to the plain's malfunctioning...
why did they keep on delivering? because of protectionism of their own market and a misplaced pride.
Reminds me of the M4 too... Heckler and Koch could've delivered the more reliable HK m416 but even though results was good , they stuck to the m4 who would fail to cycle in bad (sandy) conditions.
Come to think of it, most of the guns made by my country's company for their international arms contending projects etc. seemed to lose to their american counterpart..
To be fair to the M4, Hk 416 is a little bit pricey whereas the M4 is much cheaper (which you can see in quality differences). But this is the aviation group, not the firearms group.
Sounds like the F4F Wildcat and its variants. Unlike the F-35 the Wildcat could at least almost hold its own against its early adversaries. Still would've taken the Curtiss P-40 if I'd had the choice though.
That's an interesting one, I don't know much about the Gripen but on paper the Eurofighter appears superior to the Rafale, in reality it's quite a different story. Here's an excerpt of an article from the former Red Arrows team leader – Peter Collins – He states that the Rafale is a “war-fighter par excellence”. He added that he deemed the Rafale to be the best and most complete combat aircraft that he had ever flown. He concluded in saying that if he had to go into combat, on any mission, against anyone, he would, without question, choose the Rafale.
I think in terms of combat capability the Typhoon will (or should) always come out on top statistics wise, but then if you look at the ATLC in UAE in 2009, again the Rafale beat the Euro. So I cant't really give you a straight answer about which is better. We need Sakura back.

What are you guys talking about? F-35 clearly has the best golf score! Look at it! It's 8 under par!
That, that was a win.
Congratulations on your victory of the internet.
Sad that F-35 has all dat flaws, but still, i like it...
If it would have all other abilities, instead of lacks :\
These comparisons are quite common, but can someone compare Rafale, Eurofighter and Gripen?
