Say what you want..But the Mig 21 is a great plane..wish it just had the pilots that deserved to fly it. ((aka well trained)) when it went to war with the Western powers. The good crews in Countries that had the Mig never saw combat with western forces so it got a bad rep of being junky..

I agree that the MiG-21 was an excellent aircraft, but I wouldn't blame the crews on its poor reputation. I say the blame lies with the doctrine they flew with. Had MiG pilots been able to act with initiative instead of being subservient to ground control, then they would have earned more fearsome reputation.
