only if you are completely satisfied with props that actually exist. Stuff that doesn't would be difficult to put in the sphere, and - I imagine - more expansive to actually build and scan in proper detail. Also someone still has to do a lowpoly version, animations etc. and take my word for it - the prop artist might charge you more, when he's forced to work from scans.

I don't actually believe that this scanning will replace prop modeling i just find it interesting that its being done to that detail but yes any imaginary or object too big to fit would be done by Environment Artists anyway :) it's just an interesting watch.

I'm still wondering how long it will take to get satisfying geometry/topology out of a 3D scanner. The problem is, that this doesn't help 3D freelancers, when justifying their prizes to contractors.
