It has been a prosperous few weeks, and we have made some great progress!
Hi all, I'm new in modeling (studying for 2 months only), but making some nice progress :)
What cad program do u use?
thats a fairly stupid question since you need to narrow down your awnswer as to what for i use 3ds max 2011 and Photoshop Cs5 for 3d Art
what's up all, i need some help with smooth rendering in Blender 2.6.
right now the settings i'm using to render are
environment lighting
Raytrace
constant QM
samples: 20
which gets me this : Media.moddb.com
as you can tell there is no smoothing. and the reason for that is that i use Wings3D to model and it's smoothing creates some pretty ugly shading for whatever reason.
if i render it with smoothing on i get this: Media.moddb.com
very ugly isn't it? so how do i go about getting the quality of the first render but with a nicely smoothed surface?
Hey!
To fix your problem go in edit mode in Blender, select all vertecies (if all are unselected press "A") and press Ctrl+N to recalculate all the normal so they are facing outwards.
If you model and the normals are not placed correctly you get some weid smoothing bugs as your picture shows.
If you wish to get sharper edges you can apply an "Edge Split" modifier in Blender.
Hope it helped,
cheers!
I really dont see why on earth u model with Wings blender is superior to Wings
modeling is simple hobby for me which i like to do but am not too dedicated to it. wings3D being much simpler than blender would be the obvious choice as there is a much smaller learning process involved yet you can still make great things with it. i also knew about Wings3D before i did of blender and had no intention of having to learn how to work with blender(which has some terrible controls if you ask me) when i already had a good understanding of how wings worked
I recommend 3ds Max 2013, but i'm a professional 3d artist for a game company so i don't know...
well new blender works really well its UI is sort of like 3ds max i made a decent model with ease.
I have photoshop CS6, but I don't really know how to use it much, and the online tutorials are a pain. Can you tell me where or how you learnt to use Photoshop?
