Welcome to the second issue of the 3D Artists Group newsletter.
There’s been in a great deal of buzz across the 3d community this month with the announcement of Dominance War III that will be kicking off in full force on the 15th, DW is renown for its brutality and professionalism with large prizes and industry experts competing the stakes are high and the prizes higher, for more info hit the DW site or Game Artisans.
In other news, the ever popular Game-Artist.net have broke their silence on a large, lowpoly competition, the “Armada” Competition requires you to make a mother ship and fighter/scout ship on the tightest of budgets that will make the competition tough and fierce, more info can be obtained over at GA.
Recently, the Texture Artist Guild
& 3D Artist Group came together to create a activity to combine the skillets of the communities and design a fun constructive community style project that can be released on ModDB to help mod teams or provide assets for mods that may lack the skills or members they need to move over the bumps that come with mod development, so we are proud to announce the un named prop project, more details will be posted later but basically a prop pack will be released to the community once complete.
As previously mentioned In each newsletter we have a showcase of some great community workings, including 2D and 3D work. If you would like to show ModDB and others what you can do, please email a 1024x768 render to email@example.com please ensure your email is on the image so others can contact you.
A new feature that’s looking at being implemented into the group is artist interviews, so if your interested in telling the community who you are, where you where bred and what species of fish or monkey you may be, please just shoot me a PM they should be great fun and be a good chance to give you the spotlight
Well hope you all enjoyed the 2# issue of 3DAG :D
ModDB's modellers have quickly established themselves as the largest non engine specific development group, setting the base for what could end up being one of the largest mod related modelling hubs for modelling information and support.
We welcome to the group newcomers and old timers alike and are proud to have some industry talent among us.
Plans are in place to expand the group and get the community involved in small competitions and have community vs community competitions up and running shortly.
In each newsletter we also plan to have a showcase of some great community workings, including 2D and 3D work.
It would be great to get some original high quality work in these showcases if you would like to show ModDB and others what you can do, please email a 1024x768 render to firstname.lastname@example.org please ensure your email is on the image so others can contact you.
A shout out also goes to the good folks at Noesis Interactive who have uploaded a swag of XSI Mod tool tutorials for all the avid source developers out there.
Check them out here.
So that’s about it for newsletter one, thanks to all that have registered and are taking part in the group so far, your helping make a better stronger group and supporting your fellow modeller.
