Are you a 3D artist? Are you looking for some inspiration? Do you just want to collaborate or know who your fellow ModDB artists are? Doesn't matter what application you use or how you do it... if you're a modeller, animator, skinner or looking at getting started with 3D, then this is the group for you!
This is the final render for the HGF-45 concept for week 2 of the modeling challenge. I'm not too thrilled with how this one ultimately turned out but I did learn some things, such as how I need to schedule my time to work on this more wisely and create deadlines for certain things such as modeling and unwrapping to better focus on texturing. This is the hour or two of texturing I had left to finish this. They won't always be my best work but they will always be complete to the best of my abilities within the time frame I've allotted myself. Check out the thread for progress here: Moddb.com
You make progress fast.. and its looking pretty cool.. the only downside I can think of is that the wings are.. a bit out of tone, I mean, I like the blue rusty iron part, but its to much, maybe make it the same grey iron as those plates ? just a suggestion offcourse :)
The only thing that managed a proper texture is the main body, the wings and other details are just quick material assignments just so that they weren't bare. Deadline was midnight of last night though so I can not continue to work on this one, it will remain as it stands. Which is unfortunate, but, I learned how better to bide my time to make sure I have enough time for such things as texturing. Now that I know a faster and more efficient way of unwrapping things should be much easier as well.
