Description

Jazz Jackrabbit is a 1994 action platformer developed and released by Epic Games (then known as Epic MegaGames) for DOS PCs.
The game took much inspiration from Sonic by featuring a super fast bunny that could unlike Sonic shoot from his blaster and didn't had to collect rings, the game also has similar art style to Sonic.
As for the story, it's pretty straightforward. Devan Shell, the evil turtle with his turle army kidnapped the princess Eva Earlong and plans to destroy Jazz's homeworld Carrotus with his twin battleships. So Jazz goes on into an adventure to rescue Eva and Carrotus from Devan.
As for the gameplay. Jazz's speed is more of a curse than a blessing, this is because the camera is too zoomed in. You will constantly run into enemies that will hurt you on touch. But other than that the game plays pretty well actually and is playable. There are also plenty of secrets in the levels. It is also worth mention that there are shareware Holiday Hare '94 and '95 versions along with shareware original available for free. So find them and get them.
Also, Jazz at the time it came out it was a big deal because there was nothing like it, the graphics were amazing (when compared to Apogee still releasing games with 16 color EGA graphics) and the gameplay was smooth.
Jazz was closest to console gaming PC owners experienced at the time and it remains a cult classic.
