What sort of ammo does it fire?

It fires Imagination Bullets, Sites.psu.edu

It fires chocolate bars! So hopefully bloodsuckers would spare ya for that...

With the added bonus that chocolate will rot their teeth, so they can't bit you! :)

Obviously... Basically you'd get rid of their teeth so they're not gonna go vampire mode... But they can still rip you to pieces with their claws... Or steal your weapon with the tentacles...

Well far be it from to encourage profiteering...but, if you sold the gun to the Monolith for a handsome profit or swap it for a Gauss, well that would be good business.
Just a thought but who the hell is supplying the Monolith with all that fancy firepower anyway?

Reply Good karma+2 votes
♠Atroxyph
♠Atroxyph

No idea...maybe they do some rituals to invoke it or something?... Oh or maybe the Duty helps them...I wouldn't be surprised if some Monolithers work with the Duty... Although the thing is...you never see a Dutyer carrying a Gauss gun...

Maybe that whole C Consciousness crowd of screwballs got their hands on some useful hardware and passed it onto them, the rest I suppose they just collect from casualties etc.
Nobody else has them Gauss guns though.

Yeah...well, I wouldn't want to see bandits running around with Gauss guns, although they might just point them at themselves then blow themselves up....

The Zone is dangerous enough as it is without every half-wit in creation running around tooled up with Gauss guns, and the very thought of Bandits getting their thieving hands on them doesn't bear thinking about.

Reply Good karma+2 votes
♠Atroxyph
♠Atroxyph

Exactly...well, I still wanna get my hands on a Gauss Gun, but most of the Monolithers that use them are on the rooftops of Pripyat, and you can't really get there easily... You might just get killed also..

It would be a two man job getting one of them, 1 to carry it along with it's ammo, the other to cover the guy carrying it.
There is one in the Factory buildings in Dark Valley, see who wants to join in the job of getting it. Once it's here we can store it in the Bar for emergencies.

Yes, and a right bloody menace they are with them as well, sneaking around Pripyat is bad enough without having those fanatics taking pot shots at you from various roofs armed with Gauss guns as well.

♠Atroxyph

Yeah....I almost got killed a time when I came back from CNPP into Pripyat, and met a whole pack of snorks... Yeah, I know...you can dodge these fools easily but the problem was...I was low on ammo. I had to wait entire hours in a deserted building for a Monolith patrol to get the hell out of my way.

Had the same problem coming back from Yantar once, going through the wild territory, had to get up on the overhead crane till the pack of dogs cleared off. Was low on buckshot as I was carrying some Scientific goodies to sell in the Bar.

Reply Good karma+2 votes

The dogs aren't the only problem...one time when I was in the Wild Territory, I had to spend a few grenades to kill mercenary squads...

I had managed to avoid the mercs, had left Yantar at about 01:45, and took a wide swing round the building site and then headed for the crashed copter, that's when the dogs got got my scent. made to the overhead crane.

♠Atroxyph
♠Atroxyph

Damn Blind Dogs...they might be weak but if they find you low on ammo and if they're a whole pack, you're done with unless you run. I once saw some Stalker dashing through the whole Wild Territory since he knew where every anomaly was, and he dashed only because he didn't want any unnecessary attention.. And where are the anomalies...there usually aren't any people, at least...living ones. Better to avoid some enemies if you carry valuable loot..

True, didn't fancy bumping into that Merc outfit carrying valuable scientific suits, they carry a good price, but I took a risk, carried only enough ammo, medic kits etc to get me through, ate before I left Yantar, and drank 2 energy drinks just before the Merc outpost. Didn't plan on the pack of Blind Dogs and that was nearly the death of me.

There is a rocket launcher in the old factory at Dark Valley, it's a two man job getting it. One to carry the launcher and ammo, the other to cover the guy carrying it, once it's here we can keep it in the Bar for emergencies, ammo is scarce for it, but that can be picked up whenever any is found.

Reply Good karma+2 votes
♠Atroxyph
♠Atroxyph

Yeah...better get it ASAP. Who knows?... Maybe mutants actually have minds of their own and they plot against us... So we can't let them decide to attack the Bar... I don't wanna wake up completely drunk in a morning while under attack by hordes of zombies and izloms...

The controller is strange phenomenon, displaying some human similarities but now appearing happy to walk slowly around the Zone, dangerous at distance and when facing you, but get in close with a knife or behind one with a rifle and he is almost defenseless, very strange.

Well, this is interesting, you obviously have a fine collection, and your an exo tech, so they are all in good working condition, maybe even modified/improved. This could be the nature of the Zone in the future, people becoming more desperate as the Zones resources become increasingly difficult to acquire. Only a few Loner Stalkers may survive, the rest will either have to join a Faction or become scroungers and bandits just to live.

Love them or hate them you have to say Duty keep the area around the Bar fairly safe, I can't always agree with them but at least it's safe at night. I have met the Duty-er who seems half-decent, but I might have had a few too many drinks in the Bar :)
