You'll see the 1.0007 in Lost Alpha, as far as I've understood from the FAQ. So you'll see what's so important there, I guess.
AFAIK 1.0007 is a "patch" made by the people doing LA (if it ever gets finished at this point...) from what I know of the patch its bugfixes and shader improvements but nothing more. It may also include the soft particles OGSE has implemented but not sure on that.
