Zombie Grinder is the debut game of TwinDrills, an indie game development duo made up of Tim 'Infini' Leonard and Jordan 'Jordizzle' Chewning. It's a multi-platform (windows, mac, Linux!) (also Free!) cooperative multiplayer arcade game, reminiscent in style and gameplay of retro games like 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors' and 'Super Smash TV!', but with the added benefit of some newer game mechanics - achievements, ranking, player-customization, rpg style stats and so forth. The game sports a variety of different game modes, from co-operative 'campaign' style levels, to wave maps and even the classic 'pvp' style game modes - deathmatch, capture the 'bag' and so forth. All of these mods are bristling with a variety of weapons and items, all lovingly displayed in Jordan's classic quirky pixel-art style.

It's been a busy past couple weeks! Tim and I are frantically putting together an advance/press release! New game modes are surfacing, and the GUI is being re-worked. One of the most notable additions is our Escort-the-survivor mission mode!

Greetings all! We apologize again for the lack of updates the past couple weeks! Infini and I have been busy with life, as well as the game. Tim's been hard at work tho, and I'm doing graphics basically every free minute that I have! Our newest additions include an escort style gameplay mode where you find survivors and guide them to designated safe zones!

They look like orange zombies, but I'm currently working on their sprites. Also survivor names are still a "Maybe".

This is one of the currently planned survivors designs. I'll end up doing 4 or 5 different ones. Speaking of graphical changes, I am currently reorganizing the GUI to fit our new resolution (from 256x224 to 320x240).

^^ This be what I decided on, but is still 100% WIP. Also you may notice we added an armor bar :) ...and hinting at melee weapons >_>. I've also spent about 4 hours creating a GUI for the buff dispenser!

Next in line I'm gonna make one for the vending machine. Each food has a specific buff that lasts between 15 and 60 seconds :). There is plenty more to come in the next 5 weeks! Please look forward to more news!!!

Edit: Dr. Soda vending machine done!

Escort the survivor? The most reviled mission in every game that has ever existed?

Yes, that :P.

To be fair its kind of a necessity in zombie survival style games. I also envision it to be an optional part, something that gets you lots of XP and points, but not something that's necessary to complete a map.

We're still playing around with most of the gameplay at the time being, the amount of stuff on "the cutting room floor" is pretty hefty at the moment. If we don't like it, we'll remove it, if we do - it stays :3

It's definitely a neccessary mode for this genre of game :) They'd receive a lot of criticism if they didn't have it lol

Man it's really cool. Will it be free or p2p? If so, how much? I think if it will be available for Russia (for example in steam) I'll buy it :D

Free. Will most likely be available from our site / desura. Would be interesting to get it on steam, but from what I've heard from other developers, seems a long shot.

The GUI looks fabulous! Everything needed is there, and the survivor looks great.

Just a quick question, will there be some kind of "building" on the game? For instance, gathering sacks and making small barricades? It would be epic.

As for the escort the survivor... as stated above, too mainstream, I say create something different.

Cool that it is free. Will there be some big weapon arsenal like in Dead Rising?(I mean you can take orange, apple, desks and fight with it) and costume system? It's one of the funnest games I've ever seen :D

There's quite a few weapons, but its not going to be on-par with dead risings arsenal. I don't think Jordan's spriting hand could cope doing that many lol.

As for customizing the character, yes we are going to be having a simple system in place for doing that.
