Background
Zeno Clash is an action/fighting game set in a punk fantasy world. The game blends the first person genre with the fighting game genre and the combat is generally up close and brutal. The original visuals, which make full use of the Source engine features, are a refreshing deviation from traditional fantasy games.

Features

Engaging melee combat in first person:
The combat in Zeno Clash is up, close & personal. The new melee combat system allows players to perform a variety of movements like deflect & elude combos, knockback finisher punches and punishing grab attacks. The depth of the combat system will put player's skills to the test. Learn new attacks as the game progresses and confronts you with more formidable foes.

Fantastic visuals powered by the source engine:
Players will be immersed in a fantastic world, beautiful and disturbing at the same time. The unprecedented art style brings a fresh new approach to the first person genre. The surreal environments and characters will keep player's wanting to discover more.

Survival mode challenges:
Jump right into the action in engaging unlockable "tower challenges". The player must overcome enemy waves to progress through the tower levels. The game will rate the player in different categories like speed and performance. A leaderboards system will rank you against your friends, so the challenge never ends.

Deep storyline:
Zeno Clash is a story driven game. Player's will play the role of Ghat; the son of a impressive hermaphrodite creature called Father-Mother, whose children form the most powerful clan in the city of Halstedom. Ghat must escape from his family and start an incredible journey with his female companion Deadra, who will aid him in the dangerous lands of Zenozoik.

Bizarre weapons:
An unusual arsenal of weapons is available for those who can manage to keep the enemy at a range. The eccentric weapons are built from scraps and junk, but they are most effective when used properly. Hammers and clubs will be the most effective when fighting heavy characters that can only be brought down with extreme force.

Beautiful soundtrack:
The beautiful musical score is as varied as the game's settings. The original soundtrack will keep players immersed in the different environments and key parts of the story.

The Indie Royale game bundle site returns with the Valentine's Bundle, offering five stellar titles gamers can enjoy now, or gift to their Valentine to arrive on Valentine's Day.

A particular highlight of this bundle is Ace Team's fantastical first-person action-adventure Zeno Clash (on Steam for PC). Using Valve's own Source engine, and dubbed as 'Dark Messiah meets Double Dragon', its unique first-person fighting gameplay and exotic setting helped earn an Independent Games Festival nomination for excellence in visual arts in 2009.

Another visually stunning, IGF-nominated game in the Valentine's Bundle is State of Play Games' beautiful puzzle adventure Lume (on Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC and Linux, DRM-free PC, Mac and Linux download). Lume was filmed on a real-life set built entirely out of paper and cardboard. In this first episode, players navigate their way through puzzles to restore the power to grandfather's house and uncover a deeper mystery behind the town's blackout.

Moving on, a Valentine's bundle wouldn't be as hot without some fire. Therefore, Big Sandwich Games offers its scorching single and multiplayer arcade-strategy game Hoard (on Steam for PC and Mac). Players control a fire-breathing, high-flying dragon whose job is to hoard as much gold as possible, while destroying merchant wagons, buildings, and anything else that attempts to steal its stash. Making this Bundle even sweeter, two extended-play Hoard DLC packs (individual Steam codes for both PC and Mac) are unlocked at bundle start. Dynamite Roll! and Flame-Broiled SANDwich! offer players lots of new maps, enemies, powerups, achievements, and even an entirely new desert continent to scorch and scour.

Finally, Indie Royale is presenting the world premiere PC versions of retro RPG-defense games: Soulcaster I and II (on Desura for PC, and DRM-free PC download). Acclaimed indie developer MagicalTimeBean offers up two fast-paced dungeon adventures, where players tactically summon the powers of immortal warriors to battle hordes of monsters, discover secrets, collect treasure and buy powerful upgrades for their immortal allies.

As before, the Indie Royale bundle series runs on a five-day model where the price will automatically increase as more people buy the bundle. Generous purchasers, however, who choose to pay more than the current minimum will earn One Life Left's eclectic 'Music To Play Games By Too' compilation, available for the first time ever digitally.

Indie Royale was co-created by Gamasutra sister site IndieGames.com and independent game download service Desura. More information on the Valentine's Bundle, including real-time statistics and its current price, is available at its official website or via its Facebook and Twitter pages - and remember check back during or after the bundle for more special bonuses for all buyers.

the game is absolutly great, i downloaded it illegaly, but i will buy it ASAP! it is just awesome! except for, it is too short, and i realy hope u will make a sequel!

graphics is GREAT, story line is so weird it is good! (seriously, it is great!) although, the psysics is great but... way to unrealistic, if u pounce (sorry for bad english) in the face, the person dont fly 3meters away, even though, this is what makes it so cool, it is kinnda annoying osmetimes^^ music is great, and what an imagination with the world and the animals/character! u have great imagination, and i think, if you keep this up, and make more games, u will become BIG, and i mean big like in a great and big company that everyone hears of! i will buy this game outta two reasons: the game is great and to support you so u can continue making weird great games!^^

9/10, would give it more like 10/10 if the game was longer, and btw: sure the battle system is great, but may i give you a suggestion for later on? more combinations of attacks would be nice, and more different weps, it is like 2 close combat weps, and 4 long range, this is kinnda annoying, well, i can understand why, the game is like... 10-12 hours long, but still^^ game is great all around! and, i realy just have to say to anyone looking into it: BUY IT!

Besides the story and the graphics this game is not very good.

The gameplay feels sluggish and disconnected, you can hack away on the buttons all you want - nothing is going to change what's happening. After all the combat is just playing back animations. Moves and combos can not be aborted. It almost feels like you play a turn-based game with all the warmup and cooldown times of the moves. Not fun at all. It's also quite frustrating since the game doesn't offer quick-saves. Besides I feel that despite being confronted with multiple enemies, the game wasn't geared towards it. You can only fight one enemy at a time, but you'll often find yourself engulfed in a group of them. Freeing yourself gets impossible, when you are cornered. The arenas offer way too little opportunities to separate them from each other. Also when holding the enemy (which also takes time to prepare) the throw can not be aimed. As soon as you have the unconscious enemy ready to throw at the others, they will be behind you and hitting you. It's also quite irritating that you can neither jump nor duck, while the AI can.
Another thing that let's the game down a bit are the ever repeating enemy animations and their monotone moves.

But putting that all aside the game looks and sounds absolutely fabulous, the story is also pretty good.

So only a 6/10 because of the weak gameplay.
