NEWS: Zafehouse: Diaries is out now.

Zafehouse: Diaries is a tactical game of survival, planning, resource management and problem-solving. Manage your survivors’ needs, prejudices and motivations and you might stay around long enough to be rescued.

Tell your story
A unique, diary-based interface records your actions, reveals the state of the world and provides hints and clues to help you.

Pick your battles
A sophisticated combat engine models all battles in the game, from a zombie slipping in through a bathroom window, to a swarm flooding into the hospital you thought was secure.

Know your survivors
Survivors have unique personalities and skills – use them wisely and the group will work efficiently. Left idle, they’ll explore, socialise, play games and tinker.

Relationships matter
Make sure you check in on your survivors and see how they’re getting along. Poor relationships mean they won’t work well together, and may even end up fighting.

Add yourself and friends to the game and create mods using C#.

2 comments by ScrewflyStudios on Jul 23rd, 2013

You may have spent a few dark and lonely nights in Zafehouse: Diaries, desperately trying to keep your band of dishevelled survivors alive against the odds. Until now, it's been hard to know just how well you might be doing, in comparison to other players.

That's a lot of dead zombies!

So, we've just put the finishing touches on Bodycount, a "dynamic" infographic that shows a number of interesting stats collected over a sliding seven-day period including:

• Zombies killed
• Rumours spread
• Failed amputations
• Average hours lasted in No Survivors
• And a bunch more!

It also shows the lifetime percentages for a number of dilemma decisions. Curious as to how many people have fought the super zombie? Or locked a survivor away in a room full of zombies? Well, now you can find out.

The page updates once per hour, at which stage it will randomly select four dilemma percentages to show, so, make sure to pay it a few visits to see all the stats!

People really like trolleys.

Zafehouse: Diaries is a complex game, but that complexity might not be immediately apparent from looking at screenshots or videos. With Bodycount, we hope to show off the many, many cogs turning under the hood of the simulation.

Yes, there's more to it than just shooting zombies! Survivors live, die and get along based on the player's decisions, but there are some difficult, moral choices that must be made if you want to survive and a great deal of them won't leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

We'll continue to add or change the statistics shown over time, but for now, it should give you some insight into how others are braving the unrelenting deadliness that is Zafehouse: Diaries.

Interesting. It would be sooo cool that it brought survivors from your facebook account, including yourself

Downside is some of the stuff gets randomly assigned to people. Things like what they are good at. I put myself into the game as a new kind of profession "Gamer" and in one game I played Iwas good at medical treatment and repairing. Like what the hell.

Please double check that you have the latest version! In 1.1.8, we overhauled the custom occupation creator so that it does not randomly assign skills. Instead, the skill ratings should appear exactly as you've specified.

Suggestions: make the token on the photo more visible, completely opaque, maybe move to a bottom corner or next to the name to prevent it covering an eye.

More tokens! Each profession should have its own token, like a hex nut for a mechanic, the guitar pick for a musician, and so on.

The job assigning could be improved, showing the 'workability bubble' that is next to each name when assigning next to the job, so that I don't have to deselect and reapply one guy every hour to confirm that they're still going to work together well. Also, the bubble should be shown next to 'busy' names, just for completenesses sake. I would also prefer a lighter shade of grey for 'assigned elsewhere', keep the really dark for 'unable to do this job'.

There's no quick way to tell the star rating of an expidition, you need to drag, then assign a second through the menu on the right. I'd like an option to start and assign an expidition after selecting the destination on the map.

These are all great suggestions. I would also suggest the ability to force-equip gear to survivors, even if only for the working-style jobs (barricading, engineering, searching.) A few times I had people equipping two-star items when a five-star was available.

Hi Wizminkey - survivors should always select the best item for a given task. Feel free to drop by our forums and let us know more so we can investigate what's going on.

Perhaps it was in the demo version they acted like this? Or perhaps there was a legit circumstance I didn't see at a glance, but I vividly remember one of my people was using a two-star crowbar to search when I had at least one flashlight unused in the general pool. I'll keep an eye out and pop a message on the forum if I'm able to reproduce.

Great game, by the way. Very compelling.

Don't know if I missed the idea or something but this game is boring. It is like an old browser based game. Excel style.

Yes, you missed something. In fact, you missed everything.

Please, return to your mindless industry ruining shoot'em ups.

Well said, I understand your point. I simply found it silly that you made such a sweeping comment, but your reasons are sound. I agree the game can be somewhat tedious- it's only for a certain type of gamer.
