Get ready for a lethal dose of intense strategic combat, Redux will throw you into the Alien-Human war as a battlefield commander of either side.

X-Com: TFTD Redux remakes the classic X-Com 2: Terror From The Deep game by using a new kind of 2D engine. There'll be new features like Alien and X-Com factions having their own singleplayer campaigns, multipalyer and much more in this game. Development is still in the early stages and the custom engine is still unfinished. Check the forums for more information (official page link).

Hey guys! Sad news, X-Com Terror From The Deep Redux is dead. I've been very inactive and dispite the intentions to keep this project alive I have failed. I just don't have much time to make assets, post updates and stuff. It's been fun making it while it lasted. If anyone wants any assets I've made for this project I would be happy to share them, just PM me.

This .zip file contains almost all the models I've made for TFTD Redux project. You need 3ds max 9 or newer version to open them. If you really want some...

I decided that the new renders will have better resolution (800x600). :)

I imagine you are still pretty early in production so perhaps you are unsure, but are you still planning on keeping the meta game in? (Base construction, R&D, interceptor deployment, etc...)

Base construction might differ a bit/lot from the original game to keep the gameplay more simple and fluid. There's a lot things we want to keep in, but most of them need to be take to the next level to get them work properly in RTS. So, I think the answer is very likely yes.

Good, it would be a shame to see it go.

I'm also be curious to see if rank and command structure would play any part. Obviously the RTS format doesn't lend itself quite as well to the RPG stats surrounding each soldier, but it would be a shame to see such a neat system no longer used.

Especially the command structure. I don't know how familiar you are with the original (Hell it may even be common knowledge or in the manual, I've long since forgotten), but it would establish a command structure based on how many soldiers you had in your employ. A feature I always found highly amusing and have been sad to not see it used since. Even X-com clones rarely use the system.

It is sure that we'll use some kind of experience system to level/rank up infantry. However, it is still unsure if we're making infantry more individual, so you can arm them any way you like and their leveling up is very important -> micro-management, or we might drop individual of every infantry, so unit spamming could be a lot easier -> very large scale battles. It's mostly up to you, X-Com fans.
